This weatherboard home was being given a facelift and our client wanted a minimal and modernist style garden to reflect the feel of the home.
A large garage was removed from the rear garden which provided opportunity to create new outdoor spaces such as a paved entertaining area and a new stretch of lawn.
Existing garden beds were given new life with plant species selected to provide a range of textures, colours and scent.
The random slate paving is a standout feature of this garden and the attention to detail by landscaper Oliver Stone has truly brought our design to life.

Modernist style courtyard: Pots play an important role in any courtyard. There is always dead space and corners that need to be filled. Small pots set on the adge of the steps hide awkward corners and help drw the eye towards the gate that is a feature. Mint in the foreground is bright and softens the hardenss of the steel table. Plus the client is a big fan of Mojitos.

This was a Home Staging project at an Eichler in Sunnyvale. Our partner, No. 1 Staging created this little gem, and it flew off the shelf :-)

First home, savvy art owners, decided to hire RBD to design their recently purchased two story, four bedroom, midcentury Diamond Heights home to merge their new parenthood and love for entertaining lifestyles. Hired two months prior to the arrival of their baby boy, RBD was successful in installing the nursery just in time. The home required little architectural spatial reconfiguration given the previous owner was an architect, allowing RBD to focus mainly on furniture, fixtures and accessories while updating only a few finishes. New paint grade paneling added a needed midcentury texture to the entry, while an existing site for sore eyes radiator, received a new walnut cover creating a built-in mid-century custom headboard for the guest room, perfect for large art and plant decoration. RBD successfully paired furniture and art selections to connect the existing material finishes by keeping fabrics neutral and complimentary to the existing finishes. The backyard, an SF rare oasis, showcases a hanging chair and custom outdoor floor cushions for easy lounging, while a stylish midcentury heated bench allows easy outdoor entertaining in the SF climate.

This project included demolition of an old poured concrete patio area and replacement with travertine paving. We addressed a small grade change. All works were carried out with care and attention to the root zone of a large redwood tree.

It's done! The sun has crested the rise and we are already finished. Beautiful, durable, permeable. It's fairly hard in a few hours and in 24 will be fully rock solid.
