Teamwork makes the dream work, as they say. And what a dream; this is the acme of a Surrey suburban townhouse garden. The team behind the teamwork of this masterpiece in Oxshott, Surrey, are Raine Garden Design Ltd, Bushy Business Ltd, Hampshire Garden Lighting, and Forest Eyes Photography. Everywhere you look, some new artful detail demonstrating their collective expertise hits you. The beautiful and tasteful selection of materials. The very mature, regimented pleached beech hedge. The harmoniousness of the zoning; tidy yet so varied and interesting. The ancient olive, dating back to the reign of Victoria. The warmth and depth afforded by the layered lighting. The seamless extension of the Home from inside to out; because in this dream, the garden is Home as much as the house is.

The raised back patio is just two steps down from the great room/kitchen. On the left is the mudroom which links the house to the garage and home theater. Just out of view is an outdoor fireplace.

With an impressive double-volume entrance setting the tone, this ‘modern natural’ home design combines contemporary and natural materials as effectively as it combines form and function.
The zoned layout unfolds from the entrance hub, providing a separate living space for adult children and a secluded master bedroom wing, as well as an office/home theatre and family living, dining and kitchen area. There’s a large underground garage and store – all incredibly practical, all designed to embrace the site’s northern orientation. This is an elegant home too, with a cohesive form that brings natural materials like stone and timber together with a modern colour palette and render, creating overlapping planes and an unmistakably sophisticated ambiance.

The footprint of the addition functions with the existing house and adjacent guest cottage to capture space around a new patio. A glass ribbon, weaving through the copper and stone facade, becomes a connector between old and new, top and bottom, inside and outside. A second floor deck is carved out of the copper 'fore-bay’ and is covered with a glass skylight that empties via chain downspouts to river rock drainage beds below.

Progressive Design Build
Progressive started by removing the stucco ceiling on the lanai and the round, dated columns. It was replaced with a gorgeous tongue and groove Roman Rock ceiling finished in a warm wood tone.
To create the perfect ambiance and a warm, inviting entertainment space, an Amantii electric fireplace was designed into the outdoor living room, along with a full outdoor kitchen by Danver. The outdoor kitchen features a Lynx stainless steel grill, an under-counter Artisan beverage center, metallic matte bronze cabinets in a Key West Door style and a marble and granite countertop.
