Set in a beautiful part of Dulwich, the garden is surrounded by mature trees with preservation orders, which made finding the perfect spot for the pool a challenge. After carefully mapping the trees' root zones, we designed the pool to fit precisely between them, avoiding any disruption to the roots and staying clear of the tree canopies. Positioning the pool so that the shallow regeneration zones fringe the root areas was a key challenge, but we found the ideal balance. The pool, measuring 10 meters long by 4 meters wide, is perfect for swimming lengths and for the entire family to enjoy together. It features a child-friendly beach on one side, allowing younger family members to safely wade into the water at their own pace. The beach leads gently from the shallow end into deeper water, and water mint along the edges releases a lovely aroma as you enter the pool. A bubbling boulder at the beach creates soothing ripples and also helps mask nearby traffic sounds, enhancing the tranquil setting. We carefully considered how our clients would move around and use the pool. The jetty aligns with the house, creating a visual invitation to step onto the jetty and dive in. A walkway along the pool’s side connects two wider decked areas—a sunny deck for lounging and a larger outdoor living space near the pool house, perfect for family gatherings and dining.

Seahorses is a stunning new home near Falmouth enjoying magnificent panoramic views of the south coast seascape. Sitting on the clifftops within an AONB, the house and gardens occupy a gently sloping site that connects with the adjacent South West Coastal Path. The context and terrain of the surrounding landscape informed the design and an imaginative and ambitious solution to site levels was crucial to the success of the scheme. As a result, the completed house is lower than the original, thus creating privacy for the occupants whilst still respecting neighbouring homes. The split-level, linear design is carefully organised around a spine wall of local granite that runs from the exterior of the building through the interior. This arrangement allows the living areas and bedrooms to connect with the landscape and integrate seamlessly with outdoor spaces. A mix of grasses, sedum and indigenous coastal plants on the green roof help to embed the building into its surroundings. The palette of natural materials creates a layered, permeable effect on the exterior, which will season with time and weather, thereby allowing it to assimilate into its coastal setting. Of equal importance was landscaping, which was integral to the design intent. With thoughtful positioning of the new dwelling, significant areas of mature and established planting were protected and retained. Photograph: Elliott White Photography

The use of hidden and integrated LED Tape along with contrasting up lights recessed in the floor to add a low level of light help to not only highlight the architectural textures and features but to create a soft and relaxing environment for this home swimming pool and spa.
