How is the staircase/railing finished at the top of the stairs?

I like how the staircase is open to the basement with the railing, but I am curious how the railing looks from the top of the stair case looking down. thanks.

I must say I find the tall ones , a bit disproportionate to the rest , try it with one third off, (the top sheets) and lets see . I would then align the middle tall one(now reduced) to the bottom of the one next to it ,then I would also reduce the distance between all the frames to about 4" in between. Even if the display is not the whole length of the stairs, as long as the distance at the bottom of the stairs is the same as the distance at the top of the stairs, it will work,

Hi all, We are at construction stage of our new build and now need to decide/bottom out on the stair design. I've attached the plans and also a recent photo of the project. The interior curved wall will be constructed with the same stone as the outside and will cover from ground floor to 1st floor ceiling level. Our intention is to have an open thread design in order to allow the stone be seen - the thought is that we will have a single steel support with timber steps. The handrail and side of stairs is very much open for discussion/suggestions. I've seen loads of different options on the website however I'm still struggling to decide. I'd love to hear some fresh ideas from yourselves - the finish of the interior will be very much contemporary/modern. Thanks in advance for reading my post and helping out. Colin

I have same in my house. I got carpenter to build it up with flip lid. Storage is slopped inside the box but I store items I use seldom (eg. Ski clothes etc!). Then over head I hung a shelving open unit ( same width, but depth smaller). I use shelf for books etc and still have the top of built up box for other bits.

Anyway I look at it, this is going to be something creative when finished. There aren't much combinations that you could use with this green, but white oak is a solution for the spindles. Another solution would be to go with white (this means that you'll need to paint the spindles), but you'll need to give the board, newel post, and handrail a walnut or mahogany colour.
