Sofa placement / Kitchen Living Room

I'm really torn between a compact chaise like the existing sofa or a corner sofa.

I'm struggling with the idea of putting the sofa in front of the radiator, but also in front of the sliding doors 😬😬😬

What do you guys think? Advice and options are much appreciated ❤️

You could put a sofa in front of the radiator, as long as it is not too close, obstructing the heat. Putting seating in front of the sliding doors would look a bit odd? Corner sofas take up a huge amount of room and limit where you can put them. How about 2 sofas, one facing the tv and the other in front of the radiator? Or 2 armchairs in front of the radiator with a table in the middle?

Thanks for your comments. I think we've decided on wooden flooring throughout the open plan space but it's just what we do in living area. We had wanted carpet to get that warm cosy affect. We are considering under floor heating but I understand that can be expensive. I know we can put a rug down although I'm not sure whether that will have the desired warm and cosy feel. The other option is to fit carpet in a rectangle or circle shape in the living area. Just not sure how that's going to look and how best to join it to the wood so that it looks good. I've not seen open areas with carpet and tiles/wooden flooring...it seems that usually flooring is the same throughout with a rug in the living area. Any suggestions? I attach a plan which shows what it will hopefully look like. The dining table will go near to the patio doors. The sofa will be in an L shape with the back to the kitchen on one side and the other back to the dining area on the other side. Any flooring ideas would be appreciated!

It feels bland because floors and walls are beige. (ish). If you want to make a statement about a room. contrasting shades work really well. You have spotlights so the south aspect is irrelevant. Put a dimmer on spots if not already there so you control the light and feel of a room. I presume the fire is staying there so that back wall would be perfect for TV to be put on/entertainment system. Corner couch facing tv wall with chaise lounge on fire side. Behind the corner or L shaped couch, table and chairs so the room is functional for entertaining also and the layout is proportional. The room also has a focal point (TV)
