Bathroom mirror size? Too narrow?

Hi all,
I've got a 500 wide wall mounted vanity (arriving soon) and my ceiling is 2.4m as lowered it to fit the wall panels.
I wanted to put in a black framed mirror as the walls are all a pale grey subtle concrete/stone effect and the shower will be black framed with black shower.
I really liked the oval mirrors (like a pill shape) to break up all the squareness, but I can only find a 400x800 that is black framed and has a demister on it which I want/think is important.
No shaver socket but we will leave an adapter in the room.
- will a 400 wide mirror over a 500 sink be too narrow? Will it look off being so tall and thin?
- alternative is a 500 round led mirror which I've had before. It's not huge though and might look lost.
What do you think? 🤣
Pictures are mock up of my bathroom but not quite accurate.
Vanity will be wall mounted and shorter.

There is also an oblong mirror which is framless ie plain.

It has a shaver point in and is back lit as well but it's unframed.

I was considering getting my own trim and adding it to it as I can't find one with black trim for a similar price!

Just concerned the round one will be too small 🤔

Tall and narrow mirrors tend to emphasis a rooms small size though would be seen as a logical choice in a small space. While on a large bare wall it could get lost. If you have a double sink however having two over each sink on a large wall would look pretty cool. Especially the LED one. In small bathrooms you need to decide are you going for a cozy feel, with darker matt colours, or a lighter calmer feel. A small mirror is fine if you are going for a small cozy but stylish bathroom. Otherwise consider using larger or even a wall to wall mirror on the sink wall to create an illusion of space.

Lots of ideas....couldn't resist adding my two cents. i copied your photos and did a little cut and paste- it's messy, but hopefully gets the main idea across. i'd put your sofa in front of the large book case, chair by the fireplace, tv on the stand on the wall opposite the fireplace - so you can either look at the fire or the tv. Someone suggested using frames of one color for your photos - an inexpensive way to do that would be to spray paint them all a dark color-black goes with everything. Since your shelves are a medium tone wood, display things that are dark or light so that they contrast against the wood. Limiting your display items pallette to a few values usually helps to unify things. (I think that's why so many people want to paint the shelves or put inserts in the back to help your nice things read more clearly...some get lost). If you want to "splurge" -you may consider having a carpenter make a few solid tall cabinet doors to provide a visual break in the shelving. I'm showing 3 doors - 1 on the right side of the fireplace and 2 on the left to leave two open vertical shelves for display on each side - with things arranged to frame the fireplace as the focal point. To add some height to your big vases, consider stacking some books beneath them. Enjoy experimenting untill you get something you're happy with - good luck!

Neighbours extension wall

The rules may have changed but when we built our extension the wall adjoining our neighbour had to be completely within our own boundary. It looks as if your neighbour has continued along the party wall and therefore half the depth of the wall is on your land. It might be worth getting a chartered building surveyor to check it out as otherwise it may cause difficulties when either you or your neighbour come to sell. If I'm wrong about this maybe a professional on here could correct me. Other than that I think you should make the best of the little private courtyard it has afforded you by using plants in pots and climbers to soften the wall.

Tiling for tiny bathroom

Hi! What was your final decision? I am also working on my tiny WC and came to the following conclusions (after 2 months spent in tile shops, looking through houzz and pinterest photos). The tiles in small spaces: 1. Should reflect. The space should not be matt and absorb the light. The glazed tile reflects the objects like a mirror and creates depth. 2. Should not be oversized. When you like the big tiles on the photo you posted - just adore them at the picture. they will not go to a tine space. Compare the size of the bathroom and the size of the tile. Try to imagine the pattern. 3. Don't be mislead by professional designs and photos (like the ones you posted and you like). Most of them are the bathrooms which are really huge in size. So the tiles that are on the picture will not go for your project. You want a small SPA oasis? Forget about concrete and metal look and all the things like that. I took a sample of concrete tile in my bath... really you feel uncomfortable, when you step on the concrete barefoot, Though I have floor heating , I wouldn't go barefoot. Its concrete!:))) Concrete is good for a big loft or industrial design, I think. 5. For a SPA - look I would opt either for the mosaic (which is classical for SPA, but be careful with that. May be monochromatic or achromatic) or wood optic tiles combined with warm white tones. 6. Much color in small bathrooms is not a good option. It is better to add it with accessories. Moreover you can change the look just by replacing your turqoise towels by grey ones. You can add dynamics only by choosing not a typical size of the white tile and making an interesting pattern. For example, for my tiny WC i have 25x75 cm tiles and will put them in a brick wall style. What I have chosen for my tiny WC is a wood optic (very light) tile for the floor and white tiles for the walls. They will cover the wall by 120 cm. The rest of the wall will be covered with wallpaper (navy blue or dark gray). Or may be just painted. Wish you good luck!

Hello Houzz Ireland, We are currently renovating a 1960's build - so as you know, there is a lot of decisions to be made!! So it would be nice to get some gems of advice from the experts to help us through this daunting task. Areas where we would really like some inspiration for - small bathroom downstairs. I would really like to do something fun with this room and although small, I think it could work really well with some funky wallpaper or possibly tiles?! I'm just not sure what to do with it. Also - pulling a whole house together?! Where do we start? We have the bigger pieces of furniture but how do I know what nest of tables goes best with a suite? Or what accessories will bring a room together? I'm due a second baby in 2 weeks time so any help at this stage would be so amazing - to guide me on the right interior design path for our new house. Yes I'm thinking it might just highlight the height of the room and it might feel narrower.

As I need an led type mirror due to it being an internal bathroom and no natural light, I can't really put a huge mirror in across the wall but I do like that idea.

Seems like an oblong mirror is voting the most popular though 😂

Thanks everyone!

Although I like the round one, I've gone for an oblong one instead with the shaver socket in as its a bit larger so bounces more light around hopefully 🤞
