best way to fix window frame

Started off as a crack,started to dig out and noticed a lot wasn’t attached to the actual wall and this is the end result. Have plastered before but never where I can see the exterior brick and the air gap …. Where do I start

Sounds like the plaster had blown. Get it replastered properly.

The whole window frame need to be broken again (3 sides), then filled with a new plaster, then left to dry for at least 3 days, then painted again with the same wall color.

HI -- I put a picture on my idea book for you (last one) . I think something like that would look great and not visually close things in . You would have to have the glass in a sliding by pass panels rather than folding . You could also have the glass frameless rather than the thin black framing , but I like the black for the interest it adds.

Hi snan - to address your questions: 1 - yes, the lamps work very well. With regard to the height of the larger lamps: do you know how high they would be? If the bottom of the lampshade is even with the top of the pillows that should work. If they are taller than that I think you will be okay with the smaller lamps. Look back again at some of the pictures above to see what I mean. The thing that will look odd would be if the top of the lamps were taller than your headboard. The idea is that when you are in bed reading a book that you want the light to be able to reflect down. As far as the lampshade size goes on the smaller lamps I'm thinking the shorter ones since they don't seem to drop down as far as the larger ones. 2 & 3-Definitely chair by the mirrored bedside locker with one white locker on the other side. Without question. The chair to the left of the bed gave the room life. Use the extra white one in a closet or another room. You don't want to overcrowd your room when you are going for a tranquil setting. 4-Absolutely okay to have bedside tables that don't match and look good in the room. Whether or not you like that is a personal preference though. I would only put the mirrored one next to the bed though if you have the chair next to it. It's how they play off each other that makes it work. If you don't keep the chair next to the bed then I would use both white tables beside the bed. It is also fine that the pictures are off-centre to the wall as long as they are centered to the bed. :)

This might sound a bit like being on the fence given the advice you've had already... How about a mid to dark grey ( less contrast than black), RAL 7022 is a favourite of mine (warmer grey), or look at a green grey, as something that will have the colour of the olive, with a good amount of contrast against the white render, (you won't have the warm rich colours of the brickwork as in the photos above (which the olive looks good against)). If you are painting the timber windows you would do well to look at microporous opaque stains to reduce your on-going maintenance. A benefit of aluclad composite windows is colour outside can be factory supplied different to the interior finish. Hope this might help. Regards, Nick

I think it might work better to have blinds on the wall with the smaller windows (perhaps in a plain colour) and have curtains on the main stretch of windows, using the existing curtains to replace the small roman blinds. This would allow the fantastic view to be the main focus. I do think plain curtains would work well here but you perhaps aren't keen to change them as they are new? Could they be used elsewhere? I also agree re moving the sofas so they aren't at angles, it looks a bit strange. Maybe try them in a u shape around the fire. And perhaps painting the door frame white might make the room feel calmer. Where did you find your lovely footstool btw?

Fab, we gonna re-decorate the whole room anyway. Was gonna use expanding foam for between the exterior brick and the inside brick to bridge the gap (as your meant to have a air gap)
Would plaster be fine or would you normally use bonding then plaster ?

You need a cavity closer between the exterior brick and internal blockwork. It was not put in during the original build. This will provide a proper insulated bridge. You can then plaster it. Best to get a fire rated closer. Or put two layers of fire rated plasterboard to close. Not the test solution, but will provide an option if you can not fit a cavity closer. Example of poor building detailing..
