Need help for my living room colour scheme!
Comments (9)Is the chandelier thing seeming a bit small for the room or is it just me? Given that your walls are plain, the sofa is plain how about a patterned rug? Do you like Persian rugs? I find that dark green wainscotting too heavy and would paint it a lighter color. Given you have just moved in I assume you are planning to be there a while. If you like traditional style do you want a fairly safe color scheme re walls and curtains, keeping future resale in mind. Or are u happy to decorate according to your tastes? The mirror seems a bit small to me....See MoreNeed help for my living room
Comments (7)I think as well as adding life to the room with a different wall colour, you need to add some textures. But you have a great base to work from - well chosen sofa, floor, fireplace, etc. Great! The colour I would suggest you use in this space is called Sedgemoor by a company called Francesca’s Paints. I know you can’t get them over there in Ireland, but I have posted a picture of a room painted in this shade - perhaps you can get Dulux to colour match if you like it? You could then add a few cushions in natural colours, like dark brown, and possibly something like this from John Lewis: http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-luce-cushion/p519627?colour=Blackberry. I would also add some pattern/texture/interest into the scheme through cushions - I really love the idea of layering up a pile of these, like in the photo on the Heal’s website (also posted): http://www.heals.co.uk/content/ebiz/heals/invt/583041/583041_l1.jpg. Then another thing you could do is add a rug, I would probably go for a textured brown one like this tonal rug from Habitat http://www.habitat.co.uk/mohit-large-brown-tonal-rug-170-x-240cm/rugs//fcp-product/24124. Hope this post has helped! Good luck! x...See MoreHelp! how should I arrange my living room furniture?
Comments (0)I'd love some advice on how to arrange my living room furniture, starting with a completely blank canvas. The room will be used as a child-free retreat, mainly in the evenings for reading, watching movies and some entertaining. The window faces south east so it is bright during the day and looks over the front garden. We will probably get built ins around the fireplace to store books. I am thinking about getting a corner sofa oriented towards the tv on the right side of the fireplace but I am worried then that the wall opposite the window will just be blank. I'd like to put a chair there too but when you are entering the room I think it will appear to stick out a lot. What could I put on that wall? Could I orient the room the opposite way by putting the tv on the left of the fireplace or would that feel strange entering the room between couches? Would it be better if the door opened the opposite way? What size should the sofa be, given the room is 4.1x4.2m? I have attached a diagram of the room layout and what I am thinking currently. Any suggestions welcome! Thank you!...See MoreNew Build Living Room Layout - Help
Comments (0)Hi, We have bought a new house and can't decide on the layout of the sitting room and was looking for some help. There is an electric fireplace integrated into the middle of the center wall and two alcoves on either side. I don't want to mount the TV above the fireplace as it will be too high so am wondering what is the best room layout and TV position. There is also a bay window at the front. We are planning on getting an L shaped couch as well. I have included the floor plans below. Any advice would be a great help!...See Morebtydrvn
