Does bathroom wall need more art?
Hi, just finished bathroom refurb and am undecided whether the wall needs a couple more pictures or not? Sometimes I like it as is and other times I think the wall looks bare and needs more to fill the space. Any opinions welcome… Thanks

Comments (4)For the time being (and this IS only a temporary fix) try using a water based penetrating sealer on the grout. I stress water based, because solvent based sealers today are made to be "breatheable", meaning they allow moisture to transmit back and forth, while the water based sealers will repel water. You still need to address this in a more permanent manner (the glass door is a good idea, but it wouldn't hurt to remove the bathroom floor tile, waterproof the floor, and install a new tile floor), but this will help until you can afford to do what you need to do....See MoreRedesign my bathroom

A lot depends on budget but if you are re-fitting areas we could recommend fittings for the walls plus how about highlighting the top of wall with a good bathroom uplighter around edge - LED perhaps. The issue is that it is too flat as the colours are similar. If you added more depths of light it would help greatly. Of course we do a full range of bathroom fittings too so even a simple thing like two well chosen wall lights would help significantly. I was contemplating putting a similar light like yours above the cabinet, but decided I prefer lights on either side, as there is a lot of space which I'd like to fill a little. I will also put them on top of tiles, so another point to consider. The ones I had chosen only protrude 90 mm from the wall, so I wonder if they should protrude at least the same as the cabinet, which is 150 mm, to illuminate the face, when putting on make up or in general. Here is a picture of the lights I really liked...and another one in a room situation ( not my bathroom), but they are next to a mirror with minimal depth. I like them a lot, but am open to other options, just wondered about projection....See More

last yearThanks for all your comments so far, thinking of going with a lightly distressed long rectangular mirror on the wall but am not sure if it would look too blingy/too much chrome/silver in the room if I were to add a mirror? As the bath feet, towel rail and cistern are all chrome. What are your views on a distressed wall mirror instead of art/shelf? Thank you!

last yearYour bathroom looks lovely. i don’t think it needs anything behind the bath, I’d move the art elsewhere in the room. I would add a pink/plum towel over the side of the bath picking up the art colours. i’d also have a slightly taller vase for the eucalyptus, maybe a 3rd tealight and consider adding a loofah or flannel and soap etc to the tray as it looks a little bare/unbalanced. If you have space elsewhere I’d add a large plant
