Thoughts on living space

Hi, this is just the estate agents floor plan as we haven’t actually moved yet!
I’m just playing about with ideas for the living space…I don’t want an open plan area but a more broken plan space could work…I’m thinking about a half wall where the blue line is and some sort of divider where the red block is. I’d love French doors at the back but not sure if I really have the room there?
As I said this is very early days and just throwing ideas about. Any suggestions taken!

How about having bifold doors all across the back, and making a kitchen diner? Have a separate lounge?

Move that desk setup from the left hand side - it's not working. Remove pictures and clutter. Paint the recessed area to the left and the recessed area behind the chimney breast wall a darker colour, this will make a feature of the wall. Have an inset stove if possible it will make the space seem bigger. You can get a metal hearth which can be put away for the summer. Replace wall lights with something like rectangular plaster ones that blend into the wall. Hang small pictures in clusters or put them somewhere else and invest in a large picture beneath the velux. Make the focus on that back wall wide and low. Place log burner low in the wall and get one that is landscape format. If you have the wiring in place maybe hang a HUGE pendant light (wicker or paper). Good luck.

A few things I would change from experience...instead of a single and double door I would spend the extra money and put in a bifold corner section...would open up the space so much more. as for the kitchen...completely flip your design...put your breakfast bar closer to the window...make it large and multipurpose with the hob in it and then put your main band of cabinets either left, right or behind? We have recently restructured our existing cabinets to this layout and put in new countertops and it works far better than before!

Another option that I was thinking of, knock the internal glass walls of the conservatory and make the hall smaller - this leaves a very large open plan space (9m x 6.4m) but I have no idea how best a space like this could be used?? Can anyone give me their thoughts here? Need to move if I am to make an offer

Hi All, I've recently purchased a new home and am trying to work out best way to maximise space in the kitchen/dining/living area. The image shows room size/shape. Kitchen layout in left section is flexible. More than likely L shaped along outside wall and across window. Would like the larger area to the right to become a dining / living space if possible, as the room is quiet bright. What style layout would suit this? Is it too much for this space? You could also have a smaller snug type lounge, again knock down the kitchen wall, and create an huge kitchen/living/dining room and have bifold doors running across the back.
I actually specialise in 3D spacial planning as an interior designer, please let me know if you’d like some help visualising and of these suggestions 😊

They don't want an open plan kitchen/dining/living room Nancy. The rear living room window could be replaced with French doors. That's what I did with mine.

I don’t want a big open plan area, I prefer to be not watched as I cook 😊…

The reason for having the doors where they are is that is where there is level access to the garden, the living room window has a small path below and steps to the front garden directly under it so it isn’t possible to add doors directly to the garden there. I’ve added a couple of photos to show this.

I like the idea of the wood slat wall though, that’s a great idea.

I also really love French doors rather than sliding or bifold.

Um, would be possible to have French doors in living room with some landscaping changes. You could have a deck directly outside though looks like you'd need to keep some airflow underneath for the airbrick.

Hi Sarah, thank you! Yes I did think about that…taking the railings down and having an extending deck area…I think once I’m in I can see if that would actually work.
