Those beams are rough sawn cedar. I do not recall what color stain the clients selected. They are beautiful aren’t they.

The light carpet keeps the feeling of "light, airy, open" and that is a selling feature (big selling feature). The last thing you want is to throw in "something" only to loose the selling feature. Have a look around at some flooring options, get quotes for material+install and then use that number as the "flooring allotment" that you will offer the buyer. The room looks good. Don't mess with a selling feature. It rarely pays off.

Hi I am new to this! I am getting an extension and I like the Swedish design like wood and oaks and texture more so then the clinical white clean polished look! I was honking grey floors but would that go with some oak furniture? And also if I’m thinking grey wood floors what kind of doors throughout the house would I go for? A medium color floor is easier to keep looking clean than a dark or light floor. For an open floor plan, I would choose planks. One of the main features in the design of an open floor plan is to draw the eye through the space. A herringbone pattern would be confusing to the eye. Use herringbone in a small room.
