Help. Getting a limed wood finish on reclaimed pine wood floors

Hi there,

am renovating a victorian house and I am trying to get a nice limed wood finish on pine floorboards on the 1st floor. I have done a test patch using 2 coats of Polyvine Wood Colour White and the result is a dirty grey colour and not really what I want. I have been advised to put a clear varnish over this but I have also been warned that this can also change the colour slightly giving a yellowish or even a pinkish tinge.

Has anyone any tips on how to get a good limed wood finish, using this or any other product?

Thanks in advance
