Living room- I'm afraid I'll get it wrong!!
Comments (4)Oh, that's a good idea. A plain colour or with a pattern? Do you think the sofa is right....I have my doubts about it. The shape may not be very modern and the house is modern. I just want to make sure it's cosy....See MoreColour scheme for Bedroom to co-ordinate with Duvet
Comments (8)With the wood trim, and a white crown . .. I think the duvet color scheme wants white painted skirting and window / window sill. Then, try a softer violet on the accent wall .. .since both the red or the blue could coordinate with that but otherwise we have opposites - As a backdrop, violet can be nice with gray and white. Look at bm faded violet http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/fadedviolet#ce_s=violet and bm picket fence for the other walls, ( a soft warm off white that echos the tone of the carpet) with crisp white trim. http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/picketfence If you want a deep shade, look at wood violet .. http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/woodviolet#ce_s=violet the thing with a small room is that a shot of intense color can do a lot if paired mostly with neutrals and white. Great if you have a white wood headboard or padded slipcover above the bed, white matted art. . .. you do have good natural light, but with a dark wall you will want bedside lighting to be light and bright for nighttime. Here, the wood provided a gold element that was sort of helpful with the blue but will clash with where you are going.. Paint it out, and voila, you are on your way. . . there is a thread where a woman focused on white with coral - I'll find it and bring you the link so you can follow her decision making - she chose a strong accent wall in a small room and then concentrated on white and it is lovely....See MoreTerrible tiles, what to do ????
Comments (22)I'm pretty sure they will have been put in to provide a non-combustable zone behind and around the stove. We are about to install a wood burning stove and the installation instructions specify an area that needs to be heat resistant. Removing or even painting them behind the stove would be difficult and potentially dangerous. I would either paint the rest of the chimney breast a dark green to reduce the impact of the tiles, or add a fire surround (checking with the manufacturer or a reputable installer about clearance) and some painted tongue and groove cladding over the chimney breast depending on your preferred style....See MoreWhite-out or pops of colour?
Comments (6)I think a few options. You can either layer whites or choose a neutral in different shades of the same colour or a few coordinating neutrals then use throughout the house, sometimes on all the walls, some for a feature wall etc. then you can either add the same pop of colour throughout or choose a few that coordinate. If you have an open plan room, maybe one end go for a wall in x colour and the other have a chair in a coordinating colour and tie it together with a cushion in x colour. I'd keep woodwork the same colour. Colour can just be in the accessories or furniture rather than on the wall too. It is your home so the interior should reflect you, if you do go predominantly white with a few colour feature walls they can be easily be painted when sold. This may be a little extreme but you could also pick just 3 colours. I love navy, white and hot pink at the moment and you can give rooms different looks.
