Comments (1)Black & cream are wonderful colors, but they need an accent. I'd use a similar pink as the accent here & there. You chose pink flowers for the table! Paint chairs black. The curtains could be black & cream with a pink lining that shows just a bit or you can be more bold with the black + cream + pink theme....See Morebedroom
Comments (2)Colourwise I would look at apportioning your colours like so… Soft warm grey on the walls. If this is possible, tie in a subtle paper on one wall in similar colour. If a carpet is needed, just a shade down from the walls, to ground it but retain the soft base grey. Small amount of brown in dark wood, on furniture. But try and keep it light. No chunky dark woods. Choose slim legs and profiles. All loose fabrics such as floor length curtains, or roman blinds. Duvet cover, pillow cases, keep white. Accents on trims, cushions and accessories, can be quite flexible here. Could be mustard, or fuschia. But choose one colour that works and stick to it. Then just try to have soft textures in keeping with a cosy bedroom. Looking through to the en-suite. You can expand on you accent colour here, and use that to invite you in. One wall painted fuschia, or statement glass tiles. But you want the view in to be inviting. Try and use that if you can. I hope that helps....See MoreUpcycle mental block! Can see potential. Comments (7)Dear Éilíse Sullivan, the mahogany wardrobe looks like a great project! The image is too small for me to see the details of it; it looks like has glass/metal door at the top part and design details on the draws. If you send me a better quality image and with the door closed I can visualised it for you in any other colour you like if it helps. Replacing part of the furniture (glass) with solid panels covered in wall paper or fabric, using decoupage for the inside of the drawers or muted colours on the outside and brights on the inside ... are all possibility depending in which room you want to place it and what you are going to use it for. Are you going to do it for yourself, just for fun or to sell/present? I would paint the back panel in a darker colour, also the inside of the wardrobe part and all the horizontal and vertical straight lines to frame the different units: draws, 'open shelf' cabinet at the top and door. I would go for wall paper on the inside of the draws, something sympathetic with the darker tone on the back panel ... the handle can stay or be replaced (I need a closer look); they can really give a wist to the furniture if changed. For the choice of colours ... it really depend on where it goes and what you want to do with it. The room's images you posted are quite different in style. You could try to 'blend' the piece in to the room's design scheme by choosing complementary colours or go the opposite and bring in a bold statement. I like bold statements! I found this link with fab images that may help you see how a furniture with more details then a plain one will looks once painted: http://www.pippajamesoninteriors.co.uk/2011/design-post/a-guide-to-shabby-chic-furniture-painting/ Also have a look at this company https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jay-Co/100811059987662?sk=timeline it may inspire you to take a different direction! Have fun and please post an 'after' pic when done, really curios to see the final result! Elena Jackson - Interior & Design...See MoreHelp with bedroom colour
Comments (12)Hi. I'm not that keen on the paper with the rest of the room, it doesn't look bad at all but it doesn't look stunning either imo. Everything else looks to be more of a greige? I'd look at the same paper in truffle, sable, dark linen or even the pewter may work ( hard to tell colours on screen so would get samples of all!). I agree with the others, would go for plain bed linen and add pattern in cushions and/ or throw. It looks as if a chalk pink would work best with the greige. Maybe a chalky white for the remaining furniture. You could also break up the window ŵall by adding a trim and maybe Pom poms to the bottom of the blind. A little antique gold for accessories, lights etc would also work well....See More- 10 years ago
