Comments (4)shelly12345...not sure if you have completed your fireplace/room, just saw this post while looking for help with my own family room. I think would paint the fireplace and mirror white...would match the trim work of your room and your lighter furnishings. Something that was suggested to me...use some fabric or poster board to cover the wood on both, just to give you an idea of what it would look like white. That way you are not committed once the paint has been applied to the wood. I love Dytectur's idea of wallpapering the room and having the fireplace wall white. Would really pop! Good luck and post pictures if your finished or when you finish....See MoreHi all, love love Houzz .. Need help picking out a contemporary blind
Comments (4)What is your budget? I am partial to blinds from Lutron that provide privacy and a view and have battery operated controls for automated operation for retrofits but they are pricy. Hunter Douglas has a fabulous selection of window coverings and then there are always options such as JC Penny's. As for color and style, I suggest you establish a budget and then investigate options in your price range, this will narrow down your search considerably....See MoreWhere do i go from here? Comments (13)I think your colors are restful so I would work with those and not pop a color. Maybe some interesting artwork that had some color in it, but I think you should go for a more elegant calm look. By the way, I like the chandelier you have with the fireplace. I think I would paint the lower part of your wall the same blue as is in the top part. Then I would add some black accents in glass and lamps. Curtains that have a sheen or gold thread would be nice....See MoreMake my kitchen pop
Comments (7)Add a great large low profile cutting board, and by large I mean really large. Maybe even 2nd smaller one in a contrasting wood color and grain ie large one end grain and smaller skinny long one cross grain one. Even add a chrome or silver 3 layer tray thingy for fruits to be at hand but in a nice display vs a simple bowl. Get some some enamel bowls with color and use them through the counter and island. Either all same color or in the same family of colours, I'd cut out the panels in the doors by the cooktop and put in either bubbled glass or mesh and interior light them. Maybe one of the door one by the wall ovens, paint it out in caulk board paint or use some HDF thin board as an inset and have it as interesting feature to breakup that wall of cabinetry....See Morejen1215
