Help me finish my bedroom
Comments (36)I would also definitely go white if the windows are on the green wall. Will be much more natural to tie the accent wall with the stark wht contrasting walls. Always a very chic contemporary look. Also very relaxing as opposed to the treatments standing out when you already have your standout feature- the green accent wall. Great white bed you ordered! Then I love all the blue/green/ silver accent advice. I did a similar room in purples/greys/ whites and we used great posted prints of florals with a little oriental flair in nice big mats w frames. You could do florals or nice big botanicals in greens would be very fresh and modern!! White or silver frames or maybe even the shock of black would be cool....See MoreCurb appeal??!
Comments (14)Gosh, I've returned after a week travelling for work to loads more suggestions - thanks all! To respond specifically: - the house faces south so gets the lovely morning (and in the uk, sometimes the only) sun. - the husband has avoided putting plants in the planters due to maintenance and they're generally twee so comments here have confirmed to me that they will be coming out - love the idea of wooden boxes with the spiky plants and grasses - also like the concept of taking out the grass/bed/tree in front completely out and replacing with slabs - yes to lightening the windows - to the Barn company, I honestly don't mind the advice and I'd never seen sloping garage roofs. - nicking ideas from landscaping of new builds....great idea! - finally, Helen Scholes, I'm embarrassed about the spelling of kerb. Had no idea! Thanks again all....See MoreHelp with a new carpet for my bedroom please?
Comments (14)Thank you guys. I went to the carpet showroom today and the guy there was not very helpful. Just threw a few books at me. So I am none the wiser really. But there would not be as much selection here in Ireland as what you would have in the states. I won't give up though, I saw a few ones with speckles on it and they were nice but I think I will hold out for the pattern ones if I see them. Maybe what I want is not out there..... Wont see any dirt, only have to Hoover once a week, no foot marks and light in color ??...See MorePaint colors for new house....help needed!
Comments (0)Hi all, Need to decide on colors for our new house quickly (4 bed semi in a new development) and as I am a complete novice looking for some sound advice please. I was hoping to get into some paint shops and get some advice and samples but avoiding as much as possible due to Covid 19. So apologies in advance for all the questions! Painting will be done by the builder and the only instructions are that we "can pick up to 4 neutral colors from the Dulux range which will be mixed in standard matt". He has suggested that Shale White, Savon Grey, Warm Stove or Tempting Taupe are popular colors so far. House has an east/west orientation with the front of the house facing (sitting room) east and the back of the house (kitchen) facing west. I have done some initial research on best colors for west facing kitchen and it seems to suggest that white is a good option maybe with pink undertones? We are going for a Kashmir kitchen with a grey island and white counter tops as shown in the picture below. We are going for laminate flooring in the hall, sitting and kitchen and I like the one on the left below. What wall color do people think would work best in the kitchen with our flooring and kitchen colors? For the sitting room as it is east facing with the laminate floor above has anybody got some good tips on what might work well? For the downstairs bathroom I have read that white is a good option for darker (no window) bathrooms. We will be getting the tile below in the corner on the floor and the wall tile behind the toilet and sink covering half of the wall. The two bathrooms upstairs will be tiled. For the hall downstairs and the landing upstairs presume you would go with one color throughout? Again is a white color a good option or would grey work equally well? Finally for the bedrooms would you recommend to go all the same neutral color initially (as we are limited to 4 paint choices throughout the house) and then we can paint individual rooms afterwards when the 3 kids start demanding their own colors. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Shane...See MoreAnne Van Dijk
