Pendant lights

If I'm hanging three pendant lights over a bar that is in between my living room and kitchen, can I hang one slightly higher than the other two on the sides? Is this ever done ? Kind of a dilemma between my husband and I.

I think that would look odd. Is there a reason (besides disagreeing)?

Mock it up with balloons to see if you like it.

If the pendants are all the same, it looks more "right" to hang them all the same height because it is a classic look. If you have three or more different styles, then you can be creative with the heights because it is an eclectic look

Are shadows made by wire pendant lights annoying?

I'm looking for a light fitting for my hall way and wire pendant style lights have caught my attention, however my mum thinks that the shadows and lines they'd create on the walls would be annoying. My light casts it's frame shadow, but it's not that noticeable because it's way up high (see pic) mine is in a double floor height ceiling. I think if the pendant was lower, then shadows would be more prominent. Also, my light isn't as busy, so the shadows are less. Overall, my take is the busier the pendant and lower the height, you'll see more shadows. (don't mind the paint job, still in reno)

The balloon mock up idea is a good one. I think hanging three pendants at varying heights looks intentional in a modern design. Two at the same height and one out of line may look like a mistake.

Here's a pic… I can lower the one in the middle which is what I would like to do. But I just need to know if I can get by with this? My husband really likes it because we have a lot of straight lines everywhere else

Also the ones on the side our level… They don't look like in this picture but they definitely are.

Hmm... I don't hate it. It's not what I would have chosen, but I honestly don't think it's that off-putting.

That's kind of where I am on it. I would preferred to be straight but to keep a happy home what's a girl to do? LOL

These lights came from a lighting comany called Circa 1850

They have a lot of classic lights
