the taupe tone is actually a trick of the warm LED lighting (very early generation back in 2006) and the reflected colour of all the wood. the wall panels themselves are an off-the-shelf pre-painted hardboard panel in a warm off-white. We don't have paint chip numbers for this as it was from the manufacturers very limited colour selection. One of the lessons we learned developing this prototype is that with small production runs, you are at the mercy of the available supply chain. Custom orders are only cost-effective in large volumes and a primary goal of this project was a $100,000 home.
This photo shows the view in the opposite direction in broad daylight. Quite a different effect!
