What backsplash counters and flooring?

I want to update my kitchen with new counters, backsplash and flooring, I have some ideas but am unsure of what to do. Any suggestions?? I am on a budget so keeping the existing cabinets is a must, but what would go well with them is the problem. I also plan on new stainless steel appliances.

on the floor and back splash I would stay light to create some contrast with your cabinets but not white. A tan or natural stone look. if you use the same tile for both consider 6" on the walls and 12" on the floor. One or the other run diagonally would be ok but not both.
For the counter top I would use something a little darker than the tile with some accents.
Giallo Ornamentale, Venetian Gold or Golden Garnet are some we like. Hope this helps

Here is a "stone look" Armstrong product linoleum that will not compete with all the color of backsplash. It is slightly darker than the cabinets which will ground the room nicely. Agree that you probably don't need more tile lines.

The builder ought to be ashamed for not cleaning up each night...that is part of what my contractors do...every night. As far as flooring...since the cabinets are on the darker side...use a contrasting flooring in travertine stone. use the largest pieces you can get...usually 18" are good but if you can get 24" that's even better! Put them on the diamond. as far as backsplash use travertine again and bring in the same color as the flooring. Use a touch of contrast in the pattern like a darker liner or a motif of somekind.

I have a similar kitchen although the work tops are not dark. We have a light, white/Ivory tile on the floor. Looks lovely and bright, especially for our small kitchen.

I never thought of that. It's a small room, I'm going for wooden floors throughout the whole ground level to make it flow better. I haven't decided what type either! I love limed oak floors but I'm in Ireland where it's damp a lot, so something that doesn't show up the dirt.
