We carefully chose the furniture for the entrance hall to create a calm and sophisticated space that also felt warm and welcoming.
Mark S. Garff, Landscape Architect
In Seattle's Fremont neighborhood SCJ Studio designed a new landscape to surround and set off a contemporary home by Coates Design Architects. The narrow spaces around the tall home needed structure and organization, and a thoughtful approach to layout and space programming. A concrete patio was installed with a Paloform Bento gas fire feature surrounded by lush, northwest planting. A horizontal board cedar fence provides privacy from the street and creates the cozy feeling of an outdoor room among the trees. LED low-voltage lighting by Kichler Lighting adds night-time warmth.

Pearl Remodeling
This was part of a full house remodel in Woodland Hills, we knocked out a wall separating the kitchen from the living creating the most desirable open space concept. It has Vinyl flooring throughout and a magnificent view to the patio and pool area.
Bright Green Garden
This Camellia was a big blob of green at the end of the garden. We cut it back to show off its great legs and look how it flowered the following spring.

The client had these 3 pieces of pottery and the boxwood ball scattered around the lanai. By putting the 3 together it made a stronger design statement, finished off with the planting of artificial outdoor fern and bougainvillea, The plants will never get ratty, turn brown or need water.

A split level rear extension, clad with black zinc and cedar battens. Narrow frame sliding doors create a flush opening between inside and out, while a glazed corner window offers oblique views across the new terrace. Inside, the kitchen is set level with the main house, whilst the dining area is level with the garden, which creates a fabulous split level interior.
This project has featured in Grand Designs and Living Etc magazines.
