Hi, I'm renovating our new house and looking at having oak doors with oak architrave & skirting (stained light oak in color) but painting the door frame the same color as the walls. Has anyone ever seen this done (images would be fantastic) or is does this generally not work well? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
thanks, My dilemma is that the doors, skirting and architrave are all oak but the frames are MDF, any thoughts on what my options might be to make all these items work? I want to maintain the natural oak finish by simply staining but what to do with the MDF frames??
Can you replace the top molding with thin oak? At least the visible part, if the inside is also mdf, just stain it with the oak and you'll only see it when the door is opened..
The floors are indeed solid oak and will be the same color as architrave etc, adding oak veneers could be an option but would be difficult to get right I would imagine? Any other options/suggestions?
