What colour should I paint my room?
Comments (4)Hi Zoe, I think I would have to agree with your sister! The right grey will look warm, whilst giving the room a fresh, clean feel. Farrow&Ball do some lovely ones, have a look at Elephant's Breath or Pavilion Grey. This colour scheme with wooden floors (natural or painted) would look wonderful. Injections of colour could then be added with soft furnishings. Hope this helps!...See MoreWhite-out or pops of colour?
Comments (6)I think a few options. You can either layer whites or choose a neutral in different shades of the same colour or a few coordinating neutrals then use throughout the house, sometimes on all the walls, some for a feature wall etc. then you can either add the same pop of colour throughout or choose a few that coordinate. If you have an open plan room, maybe one end go for a wall in x colour and the other have a chair in a coordinating colour and tie it together with a cushion in x colour. I'd keep woodwork the same colour. Colour can just be in the accessories or furniture rather than on the wall too. It is your home so the interior should reflect you, if you do go predominantly white with a few colour feature walls they can be easily be painted when sold. This may be a little extreme but you could also pick just 3 colours. I love navy, white and hot pink at the moment and you can give rooms different looks. Comments (0)I am doing up my 8 year old daughter's bedroom, she has totally gone off the princess/pink theme and wants grey tones instead - her taste would be older than a typical 8 year old. She has a large room approx 14' x 14'. On one of these walls she has built in wardrobes, ivory colour (which will be staying). I am lifting her carpet and putting walnut colour laminate flooring (her choice), i have got her a white double bed from Ikea as well as 2 white lockers. So it is well on it's way but I am stuck as to what colour to put with the grey. I haven't yet chosen a grey colour which she wants on her back wall (The headboard of the bed will be on this wall and bed coming into the middle of the room) so any grey colour recommendations I would appreciate. Also can you recommend any other colour to paint the other 3 walls (one of which has a large window on it) other than white which is what i've been thinking but think it may look too cold. Also i am open to painting the ceiling in a different colour other than white but looking for advice. She has fuschia pink curtains at the moment which I think I will have to change but haven't decided on this either or may change to Roman blinds. Grey and blush pink accessories is what I am thinking but finding it hard to source Blush pink curtains so should I bring another colour in to the room to compliment these colour. I would love your feedback, thank you in advance....See MorePaint colors for new house....help needed!
Comments (0)Hi all, Need to decide on colors for our new house quickly (4 bed semi in a new development) and as I am a complete novice looking for some sound advice please. I was hoping to get into some paint shops and get some advice and samples but avoiding as much as possible due to Covid 19. So apologies in advance for all the questions! Painting will be done by the builder and the only instructions are that we "can pick up to 4 neutral colors from the Dulux range which will be mixed in standard matt". He has suggested that Shale White, Savon Grey, Warm Stove or Tempting Taupe are popular colors so far. House has an east/west orientation with the front of the house facing (sitting room) east and the back of the house (kitchen) facing west. I have done some initial research on best colors for west facing kitchen and it seems to suggest that white is a good option maybe with pink undertones? We are going for a Kashmir kitchen with a grey island and white counter tops as shown in the picture below. We are going for laminate flooring in the hall, sitting and kitchen and I like the one on the left below. What wall color do people think would work best in the kitchen with our flooring and kitchen colors? For the sitting room as it is east facing with the laminate floor above has anybody got some good tips on what might work well? For the downstairs bathroom I have read that white is a good option for darker (no window) bathrooms. We will be getting the tile below in the corner on the floor and the wall tile behind the toilet and sink covering half of the wall. The two bathrooms upstairs will be tiled. For the hall downstairs and the landing upstairs presume you would go with one color throughout? Again is a white color a good option or would grey work equally well? Finally for the bedrooms would you recommend to go all the same neutral color initially (as we are limited to 4 paint choices throughout the house) and then we can paint individual rooms afterwards when the 3 kids start demanding their own colors. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Shane...See MoreHinton House Interiors
