Dormer exterior lacks kerb appeal
Comments (25)Hello egreevy, Okay, yes I see, it's a difficulty but maybe not impossible... Just whether you want to try to find out more about this.. Taking windows out to paint is a bigger job but it may still be possible.. ... So for the immediate.. Paint the front door (just the door) it might give a nice finish to have the side windows white.. Then you have a bit of contrast like your image above.. and add window boxes with lovely foliage or buxus.. it will work with the green you already have... I couldn't see as my screen was dimmed.. I think leaving all the ivy colour you have at present would be really nice.. (hence my suggestion of more green!! Also I wouldn't paint the pebble dash, to me it looks absolutely fine on the house itself.. Maybe the small boundary wall at the front and a bit of the garage.. Also a flat box hedge coming over the top of the boundary wall could be nice too.. It will be lovely and green.. : ) )...See MoreWhat to put on hall landing? Carpet or laminate?
Comments (3)Sorry, I'm confused. You have a landing that is attached, some how, to laminate flooring somewhere. Stairs will be carpeted...but not sure how stairs tie in to the laminate. Totally lost. You have stairs that will have carpet. They are attached to the landing...that is some how attached to flooring with laminate. There might be stairs involved, there might not be. At this point, without photos or blue prints or a full, clear statement describing the whole thing, we won't be able to help. What is the flooring 'upstairs'? Putting carpet on stairs, willy-nilly, with NO connection to "other areas of carpet" is quite odd. Many people who use carpet will often "carpet the stairs" and then carpet all of the area "upstairs" to match the stairs. This is why they put carpet on the stairs in the first place...it matches the "upstairs". Using carpets on stairs, then on a landing use laminate, and then continue carpet on stairs once again is very, very odd. Ending the carpet without continuing with it (ie. upstairs is another flooring type entirely) is another "odd thing to do". In essence, we will need more precise description of what is going on here....See MoreWhole house re-decor , for sale purposes
Comments (33)Hello Duncan, They are good and I am biased as I don't use companies that don't provide trade discount... as I usually like to help my clients out... Here's a few images and an edging on a runner can be lovely too... I have also included one of a painted stair... So you have an option all of which are rather striking.... : )) x http://www.naturalrugstore.co.uk/coir-rugs.asp?gclid=Cj0KEQjwiKS3BRCU-7XQ75Te3NoBEiQAA2t_xPmcwAZ3TS0Qhq1t1hzYsP-r8oFgdC385qXO88eXioYaAjCE8P8HAQ The painted one... I would include the banister in this scenario.....See MoreMarmoleum vs laminate floorboards for this open plan ground floor
Comments (10)And also there is some original tile left and I was toying with the idea of tiling over that strip all the way to the wall to create a small corridor of tile as you come in the front door for the 'hallway' that once was, to add interest and a sense of separation between kitchen and hall because the door opens into the kitchen directly which isn't ideal (we had to do away with a small pocket door and partition wall there.) and then do the rest in marmoleum. Would this look weird or should I just do the marmoleum throughout?...See MoreSonia
