Flooring Colour For New Kitchen

Hi Everyone

We are in the middle of replacing our kitchen and installing a new Oak design base units with Cashmere wall units. Walls are F&B slipper satin.

I’m starting to think about flooring, I was thinking LVT Herringbone click flooring. Not sure whether to go lighter, stay the same or darker.

Any ideas or suggestions would be amazing.

what worktops are you having? I’m not sure if i’d go for stone/stone effect? It depends on what else is in the room, it looks as if the space is quite large? What’s the other furniture? I do like this chevron floor though in the 2nd pic. I’d go lighter if you opt for wood as there doesn’t look as if there’s much natural light that end?

I’m going for an off white quartz. And yes I really like the herringbone as well, just thinking it may have to be lighter rather than darker

thanks for posting the photos. First, I feel like there is a mix of styles in the design that aren't really complementing each other. The waterfall walnut frame around the frig and wall oven areas is VERY modern. But the rounded front cooktop/bar, the divided light glass front cabinet doors, and molding on the upper cabinets are very traditional -- maybe even a bit 'cottage'. The looks are fighting each other IMHO. Also, I would reconsider the placement of the wall ovens -- they seem very crowded back in that corner. And the range hood going to the ceiling but the cabinets stopping short looks odd to me. Maybe a different hood with a narrower chimney would look better. And, is that the dishwasher on the island? --- Yikes -- I would want that right next to the sink (otherwise you'll be dripping water all over the floor everytime you load it)

White goes with anything. We have a high gloss white handleless kitchen from Crown but the good thing is that our kitchen decor can always be updated. Walls can literally be painted any colour and it will go, same with wallpaper and even changing the worktops. If you want something this becoming in style, light grey kitchens are becoming an extremely popular alternative to white. We have hints of light grey in our kitchen (Cornice and end panels to frame it)

I'm deciding on colours for my new build kitchen. I know I want a light grey kitchen with a charcoal worktop but would a dark tile on the floor create a "sandwich" effect and make the room appear small. I can't find many photos of grey kitchens with dark worktop - are there reasons this combination is avoided? Thanks for all advice.

I wouldn’t go for wood effect at all for the floor as you already have a lot of wood with the units. What will the worktop be? I think a simple, plain stone floor would look lovely. You can choose real stone, porcelain or LVT.

Stay away from Click LVT, go with a glue down LVT if you are going that way.

You'll get a better finish with no need for expansion gaps or sealant around the edge and you are likely to have far fewer issues in future.

The click joints are always vulnerable if the floor is a little uneven, some manufacturers of vinyl click are now stipulating you can't put appliances or any significant weight on top due to joint failures.
