Kitchen floor colour

I'm deciding on colours for my new build kitchen. I know I want a light grey kitchen with a charcoal worktop but would a dark tile on the floor create a "sandwich" effect and make the room appear small. I can't find many photos of grey kitchens with dark worktop - are there reasons this combination is avoided?

I have a similar kitchen although the work tops are not dark. We have a light, white/Ivory tile on the floor. Looks lovely and bright, especially for our small kitchen.

I like the wood effect tile. If properly placed it might give the impression of an actual wood floor. Well apart from colour i guess one would have to conisder how easy they are to clean with stains and all. But more importantly how slippery they are when dry, when wet or when there is a little bit of oil on it.
