Bathrooms Design Dilemma

en-suite door suggestions

Hello, we moved into a house with no door on the en-suite strangely. We were wondering if a normal door or perhaps a bifold door?

A normal door would be preferable but then it would really need to have hinges on the right hand side because the light switch is on the left, but when it opens it’ll be blocking the bedroom entrance.

Ideas please much appreciated

Thanks yes good idea the door might just touch the towel rail though. Yes light switch on outside

With a sliding door, you can have each side different to match the style of the room it faces. Here are some ideas that, believe it or not, are done with sharpies on flat surfaces. I can envision a "fireplace" on the lounge side. On the dining room side, you could do the "double door" look, by putting half on the door, and half on the wall next to the door. So when the door is closed, it looks like a pair of doors, but when the door is slid open it looks like only one door (but it's the wall!) I added the 3rd picture just because I think it's so cool. I believe the only "real" thing in the room is the glass table/desk, and the filing cabinet.

Hello Would anyone have experience with a similar property to ours and share their solution/knowledge? Issue We have a small Victorian cottage gable-onto-driveway with L-shaped garden. The hall door, porch is three-quarters of the way down the property. Our modest accommodation 3 bedrooms (at gable) (the double b/room currently doubles up as a playroom), sitting room, (internal/no windows) bathroom and then scullery kitchen and off that a side return ('internal' courtyard which we have nice storage outbuilding and in is also where we also grow vegetables, fruit etc. Our idea We would like to bring the porch to the 'front' of the cottage. We want build a hall cottage entrance replicated but flush with corridor-hall. The bedrooms would then have new entrance doors through old gable wall into new hall. The hall door will be centre of the new hall, build a bathroom to one side (external window, proper ventilation). This new hallway would wrap around to the left of the property into a 30sqm room with french doors facing front and french doors at other end of that room (onto leftover section of garden) and this room would have a small en suite. This room would connect by french doors (subsume the current windows into the sitting room). The internal bathroom can be (happily!) demolished and space used to double the size of kitchen and connect by barn door/sliding solid door to playroom/dining room. We think this build would provide adequate living space for our small family and a flow to the house with spaces that can join up and close off, such flow which it currently lacks. Any advice / issues with hallway (integral porch, hall door) at gable with wraparound to garden room?

What to do about bathroom vanity?

Hi, I'm building right now and struggling to decide on what to about bathroom vanities. I have a guest w.c., en-suite and main bathroom with double sink area to do. The selection in shops are doing nothing for me, apart a vessel sink on shelf combo, but that would leave me without storage. The house is modern but I dont want gloss units. I like the look of real wood but the selection in shops are more suited to older houses. I asked a kitchen maker if he could make something in wood, but with modern flat panel door - rather than shaker - but he said real wood would warp and only does veneer. I've asked him to quote for same but not sure now. I've seen so much I've confused myself and now I'm second guessing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Agree that you should hang an inward left hanging door. Seems to be enough room between doorframe and radiator but measure to confirm.

I would consider a pocket door. The door disappears into the wall and takes up no space in either room.

Something like this; also called hidden door. A mirror would make the room look bigger and also provide two functions: a mirror and a door 😊

How about a barn door? The door can slide on the outside to the right and quite easy to get a kit for hanging. Problem with pocket doors is the wall needs to accommodate the door within itself and it’s such an upheaval.
