Help - paint bubbling on one wall in the kitchen

Just after some advice. We had a single storey extension built in 2019 and built a new kitchen and underfloor heating etc. Everything has been find but after turning off the underfloor heating in April, roughly two weeks ago, one wall has started to bubble and it has got progressively worse. The area is not wet or damp. I have also noticed that on the same wall but outside - the render paint seems to be bubbling. Just wondered how concerned I should be? What's the likely cause? And how do I fix it?

Thanks everyone. AMN - The lighting in the photo isn't great - the walls and venetian blinds are both white and the green is a wallpaper. I've a TV on one side and radiator on the other side of the wall but I do like the idea of painting it a different colour. What do you mean by "because the sectional is too big for the space already" thanks! Dar Eckert - like your suggestion of introducing another colour, I was thinking about aubergine but again it could be over modern and not the slightly warm vibe I'm looking for - what do you think? Carolyn - thanks for posting the rug, going to look it up and see about shipping costs etc to Ireland from that site. Really happy with the rooms but we've just had a baby and I want a bit more of a cosier feel with her around whilst still keeping with my modern twist!! Long post, sorry!!!

Thank you for your suggestions and ideas! I love some of the more daring/colourful ideas, but I don't think I'm, personally, bold enough to go with such a contemporary look. I'm going to stick to a traditional/modern style and use large (4" x 8") white subway tiles and dark grey grout. I'm thinking of using a dark grey paint around the kitchen walls and then a lighter shade around the rest of the room, with maybe the dark grey on the wall behind the TV too. Will be a few more weeks before that's all done, but I'll post a picture when I eventually get there. Thanks again!

I painted my kitchen three years ago, and I love it. It's hard work and can take some weeks to do. You need to take doors off, remove the hinges and handles. Remember you need to prime and paint two coats on each side, so for a door that equates to six coats of paint and letting each coat dry. I used Mylands of London paint, I'm just hooked on this paint as the eggshell is dead flat with only 8 percent sheen, you wont get another paint any flatter. And if the paints good enough for Downtown Abbey, then it's good enough for us. I would hold back on painting wall tiles, as they are white and look fine , paint the cupboards first and see what it looks like. I choose Myalnds paint and had the colour mixed in a farrow and ball blue green. See photos. Good luck Yvonne

I'd speak to a plasterer who renders too for advise probably needs hacking out & patching up Sally.

Hi Sally,

There's water/moisture penetration to wall, from outside. Check the outside roof, gutter and downpipe, cracks around window frame and the sill (outside).

This isn't rising damp, or at least doesn't show signs of. Find and eliminate the cause, then call for plasterer. What is this wall made of, brick and plaster, plasterboard and plaster?
