Matt well or not?

Hi, I’m after your opinions again please. 😀

Just had a new front door and sidelights fitted in the porch and need to sort out the flooring (please excuse the mess). In doing that I’m wondering about installing a mat well instead of a door mat. Never had one before and don’t know that much about them.

The size in particular is throwing me. Door width only or wider? How deep to go? Will there be too little flooring left to make it doable since it’s a relatively small area?

Not sure about going for Karndean like the inner hall or sticking with tiles. Is it even possible to install a mat well into Karndean.

I like the idea of a mat well but I’m just not sure.

I think they go all the way across, not just in a strip. Then the flooring starts after that.

Ooh Darzy I like your thinking. Actually the curtains are taupe and a nearly mint green - not stripes more they blend into each other (see pic). But if I got some art picking out those 2 colours that could work. I love teal but not sure about it on this wall. Maybe coral could be nice or is that too on trend? I also have an old chair I need to get reupholstered and was struggling for ideas for that. But a floral pattern with the green and taupe from the curtains and a third colour that matches the art could work well - ideas, ideas, ideas!Thank you Houzzers I knew you'd help me to look at this differently.

Lovely, much better than the 3D plan. V glad you kept your patterned floor tiles, I really like them. It's all come together very attractively. The only thing I'd change and this is just because I'm a colour freak is the pendants - I'd probably have made those red and orange or something. But congrats really, it looks great.

mussel kitchen cabinets

hi all, for the kitchen in a new contemporary build, I have narrowed it down to mussel coloured kitchen cabinets -handless matt acrylic (kithenstori.com ) together with white jasmine corian worktop. The floors are planned to be oak laminate and the window frames and doors white. I was wondering does anyone have mussel cabinets and do they have green undertones? What colour island will work well with mussel/jasmine white?

My son has one. lt is all the way across and deep enough for them to get in the door comfortably and take their footwear off. Definitely worth having.

I have a mat well, it’s brilliant and it’s quite roomy, so two people in walking boots can come in, stand on it and take their boots off. Go big! Also had one in my last home and when it got a worn looking and crushed, it was easily replaced.

I bought my mat online and fitted it myself. Just needs to be cut to size and floor trim fitted on exposed edges.
