Kitchen & LR suggestions

Hi All,

I've just bought a house and would like your opinion on 2 areas of the house - the kitchen and living room. Note all of the furniture in these photos are from the listing and so will be going away. I will be purchasing new furnishings.

1. The bottom kitchen cabinets are a kind of bright green. I dislike it and would like to change that before moving in (also knobs).

2. I'd like to add some bookshelves around the fireplace but I'm not sure there is enough room to look "right".

3. The whole interior is light gray and white. I'm a single guy - I would like to add some color with a masculine vibe.

I really love the space, it looks light, bright and airy. I would keep the upper kitchen cabinets as they are and paint over the lower ones in a colour you like. I'm thinking maybe a burnt orange would warm it up and go well with the colour of the flooring. Dark navy or royal blue would also look good, and thank goodness you said you were changing those handles! If you haven't already chosen new ones there are loads on Amazon.

You mentioned bookcases around the fireplace. Why not try a Billy bookcase (Ikea) on the right hand side first and see how it feels.

It feels bland because floors and walls are beige. (ish). If you want to make a statement about a room. contrasting shades work really well. You have spotlights so the south aspect is irrelevant. Put a dimmer on spots if not already there so you control the light and feel of a room. I presume the fire is staying there so that back wall would be perfect for TV to be put on/entertainment system. Corner couch facing tv wall with chaise lounge on fire side. Behind the corner or L shaped couch, table and chairs so the room is functional for entertaining also and the layout is proportional. The room also has a focal point (TV)

Hi. I’m wondering can anyone suggest a layout for this room as I’m a bit flummoxed. I was thinking of giving over 2/3 to the living area and 1/3 to the dining (as is). The fireplace is wood burning so the tv can’t be placed over it. How can achieve balance in this room without having my tv as a focal point. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ( double doors lead to kitchen).
