How to make my kids playroom more stylish?
Comments (17)Simplify is always a good strategy with play rooms. The temptation to cover the walls with artwork and posters can add to the visual clutter. I would suggest a larger area rug to ground the space and create a soft place for playing on the floor. A medium colour with a fleck from other hues in the curtains and upholstery will help hide dirt and lint. I think you could definitely cozy it up with a warm wall colour to unify the space. Lastly, closed storage for the toys goes a long way to creating order from the chaos. You will have a lovely space the children enjoy and you find restful....See MoreRedesigning a small kitchen in tourist apartment.
Comments (4)I do not have picture of space but the feet and inches are as follows. 78.5 inches wall which should incorporate fridge freezer with boiler on top. This space meets the door and I think the high object would look best in that position. There is a window in centre of this space which I propose putting cupboards over to have extra storage space. I will create extra light to replace window light over the adjoining door. The other wall is 86.5". this wall meets the lounge/dining area with patio door off to terrace. My concern is worktop space, I thought this end might best incorporate the cooker with microwave overhead. I would be most grateful for your help. Comments (14)Jen, are you sure everything is in proportion? I'm asking, because that store seems to be just a bit wider than a door (so about 1 m) which is fine, but doesn't give much space to manoeuvre inside it. Also, a bit too many doors in a small space, but I'm afraid I can't offer you a remedy for that. You have two wide, massive windows and a door in between, I think that will give plenty of light. Personally, I'd just add skylights or a glass roof. Or a long strip of glass all along What you don't seem to have is ventilation windows. Trust me, you're going to want one in the utility, or at least a good fan. Transom style windows could work too if you can open them. I really wish you'd see an architect... there are lots of different, small things that a professional can spot from miles away that you wouldn't even consider. As I said, I regret we didn't; our house is great, but it could've been even better!...See MoreKitchen redesign help needed
Comments (9)HI Sophie, Thanks so much for the suggestions. We would never have thought of moving the sink - I guess you get used to things where they have always been! Just so I can understand and visual where you suggest moving things to, when you say move the fridge down to opposite the pennisula, do you mean near the entry to the kitchen (where the small three cupboards are shown on the drawing above) or where the cooktop is currently? I know one concern that my mum has is that the width of the fridge will jut out too far into the kitchen, taking up too much room. I've attached a picture with dimensions on it. Keep the suggestions coming :)...See MoreHelga Irvine
