Hi everyone, We have just paid our deposit for our Wren kitchen. Are there any key questions we should be remembering to ask regarding design, appliances, worktops etc? I'm worried I'm going to miss a clever design idea, or a worktop hack, or a needed appliance. Thank you
Is there a specific reason you have chosen Wren? Was it for the finance? If so don’t forget it’s already added into the price.
You need to double check their charter against your kitchen. They hold no responsibilty for wrong sizes supplied.
Worktops (as well as units) are cheaper elsewhere especially if you are opting to have quartz.
Most of their appliances are sourced from ao.com so be prepared for them to be out of stock as appliances are still difficult to obtain. They will also offer you the oldest models in the hope that they are still available which in turn keeps their prices down.
Are you planning to use their fitters? If so be aware they are graded with A being the best although I doubt they will tell you the grade so of course A grades are always booked up as nobody wants the C graders.
Make sure you know exactly what you’re paying for ie dry fit or not.
You will need to post your plan on here if you want opinions on the design.
Agree with everything @Daisy England says, especially regarding the fitter levels, i used to sub contract for a national kitchen and joinery company and I was considered an A grade installer, to get this all i needed was to have a fire extinguisher, first aid box and accident book in the kitchen when inspected, so even the grading is a joke. Another thing I'd suggest is any payments you make for your kitchen, make them on a credit card so you have extra protection.
Also has anyone surveyed your kitchen or did you submit your own measurements, if its your measurements than wren have their get out clause, i'd suggest looking at your plan and start in a corner and clearly mark out on the wall or worktop exactly where everything is going, check base and wall units line up, check for pipework and if you have appliances in front of pipework, check units don't go past doorways and windows, freestanding appliances need more room ie a wiggle room so a 600 washing machine needs a 615-620 wide space, make sure you have enough panels to make any fillers, check off your decor panels that you have enough.
As an independant supplier, i compete with wren's prices but have more choice, better cabinets and in more colours, more door sizes with made to measure and in more colours, I always check and recheck that everything fits, carry out site surveys, just like most local independant suppliers do.
