Shed and fence paint colour

Hi,

I am looking for advice on shed and fence paint colour from the Cuprinol Shades range. I don't have many flowers in my garden as I have a couple of goats but am looking to spruce the garden up a bit.

I like a country look but not sure what sort of colours to go with. I painted the picket fence in Willow last year (although didn't really prepare it properly) and I'm not sure about the colour.

Any suggestions?

As you don't have any flowers in the garden I would be tempted by a bright bold colour.

Have you taken a look at the colour options on the cuprinol website https://www.cuprinol.co.uk/garden_colour/colour_selector/index.jsp

As you change your colour choice you can see the effect - I would personally opt for a colour like 'Berry Kiss' in the reds & pinks, but it is a real personal choice :) You may want something more subtle.

They do some lovely colours don’t they? What a beautiful outlook. I used Wild Thyme on my raised fishpond and it’s just a bit deeper than Willow. I also like Dusty Gem or Lavender. Think they will sit nicely with your setting.

I really think it's the plants that are supposed to be the center of attraction so I have a hard time thinking of anything better than painting the wall gray and the planters charcoal. However, trying to keep an open mind I did locate the photo above with yellow planters, which would be pretty against a gray wall. But looking at your very lovely blue door, I could see repeating that very same color on the planters and leaving the wall gray. It's always a good thing to repeat an existing color when it looks as great as that one does. That blue would be dynamite on a planter filled with green plants and colorful blooms.

With the wood trim, and a white crown . .. I think the duvet color scheme wants white painted skirting and window / window sill. Then, try a softer violet on the accent wall .. .since both the red or the blue could coordinate with that but otherwise we have opposites - As a backdrop, violet can be nice with gray and white. Look at bm faded violet http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/fadedviolet#ce_s=violet and bm picket fence for the other walls, ( a soft warm off white that echos the tone of the carpet) with crisp white trim. http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/picketfence If you want a deep shade, look at wood violet .. http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/woodviolet#ce_s=violet the thing with a small room is that a shot of intense color can do a lot if paired mostly with neutrals and white. Great if you have a white wood headboard or padded slipcover above the bed, white matted art. . .. you do have good natural light, but with a dark wall you will want bedside lighting to be light and bright for nighttime. Here, the wood provided a gold element that was sort of helpful with the blue but will clash with where you are going.. Paint it out, and voila, you are on your way. . . there is a thread where a woman focused on white with coral - I'll find it and bring you the link so you can follow her decision making - she chose a strong accent wall in a small room and then concentrated on white and it is lovely.

This might sound a bit like being on the fence given the advice you've had already... How about a mid to dark grey ( less contrast than black), RAL 7022 is a favourite of mine (warmer grey), or look at a green grey, as something that will have the colour of the olive, with a good amount of contrast against the white render, (you won't have the warm rich colours of the brickwork as in the photos above (which the olive looks good against)). If you are painting the timber windows you would do well to look at microporous opaque stains to reduce your on-going maintenance. A benefit of aluclad composite windows is colour outside can be factory supplied different to the interior finish. Hope this might help. Regards, Nick

That looks really nice. I was actually looking at a combination of Wild Thyme and Dusty
