We have a pine clad, concrete staircase that we are looking to ideally update to tile/stone, add metal railings and handrail. Does anyone know of a company that specialises in this work?
There are lots in the back of magazines - at a price!
Are you looking for a contemporary or traditional look? You could replace the bannister and rails quite easily and cheaply, and tile the steps (maybe paint the rest of the concrete?) Basically just remove all the wood, though I can't see if there will be a problem with the stringer adjacent to the wall. Do you know if the concrete is fixed just at the top and bottom?
Perhaps talk to an architectural ironmonger - ask around for one locally who has done this sort of thing.
Thanks Sarah, looking for something more contemporary. We haven't removed the wood yet, I think that's the next step to understand what options we have.
