Hallway help needed

We recently renovated our terraced house - it was build c1900 and we’ve completely updated the house but kept some of the old features such as ceiling roses etc.
We have tiled the hall in this patterned tile which I love - but stuck on what colour to paint the walls - advice please!
Originally I thought I should do a dark green and pick up the colour in the tile, but the hall is small so I worry it will be very dark on the walls. Another idea was to keep the walls pretty neutral and carpet the stairs in a dark forest green colour and pop the colour in the tile in that way? Any suggestions as I am totally stuck?
