Hi all,
We are doing a home renovation on our 100 year old house including a new 20sqmsingle storey rear extension. The total floor area will be approx 58sqm. The house is relatively narrow and does not have a downstairs WC
We are going back and forth between 3 plans and are really struggling to decide on the best option. We would appreciate any tips/comments/advice on which would be better and why.
- We don't want 100% open plan.
- We do want to add a toilet.
- A utility space is nice, but not a dealbreaker
Option A:
Split the house front/back and move internal wall.
Pro: Lots of glazing, bigger sitting room
Con: narrow EC, opens on to kitchen
Option B:
Split house left/right and open snug with pocket doors.
Pro: cheapest, bigger utility/WC, hides awkward staircase overhang
Con: small snug, less glazing, awkward room shape
Option C:
Like option A but with a central WC/Utility space
Pro: toilet opens on hall, rectangular kitchen, lots of glazing
Con: Smallest kitchen floor area, not as nice a kitchen layout.
