The old fashioned way is to get lots of shops to each send their sales team out, to each measure, and to each come up with a design that might or might not suit you. After you have sat through several sales chats you may well be totally bamboozled ...

The new way is maybe a tad easier for all involved ...

First sort out a safe kitchen design layout, that suits you as a family with an unbiased credible professional ... then shop around to all the local and National showrooms - and look online too etc ... give them all the same design to price up - So they save time, and this should allow them to give you their absolute best price ....

So if you want to compare prices from lots of suppliers ( local and national ) the designing the kitchen independently as a first port of call is a good shout.

That budget is ok, but tight for medium to large kitchens. It all depends on your design and wishes. Remember quality costs money and only diy labour is free. I agree with Oneplan, get a few quotes and advise on a realistic layout for that price.

And.. if you can't a fford the full kitchen right now (for example that lovely row of tall units), see if you can chop the project into two. Some second hand appliances for now, no splashback, anything that doesn't need to be done right now, but can be done later on without issues.

If £ 9,000 is your maximum budget, then you can expect to get a very decent kitchen. Of course, everything depends on how big is your kitchen, if you need new flooring, and so on. Consider a used kitchen. There are a couple of great online retailers selling used kitchens. Expect to budget £2k for fitting, up to £1500 for transportation and sometimes you will also have to pay £500 to dismantle the kitchen. However a £5k budget this way will get you a lot of units and appliances

£9k sounds a decent amount but if you’re expecting appliances to be included it won’t touch the sides.

As others have said, how far that budget stretches depends on lots of factors, particularly the size of the kitchen (i.e. the number of cabinets) along with appliance and worktop choices.
