Help with flooring colour
Some of our kitchen has gone in now, see pics.
Dark grey shaker kitchen, white carrara marble look worktop (not picked yet) and considering Karndean wood-look flooring, walls will stay as white.
The units are obviously really dark. There will be 3.4m sliding doors at end of run of units, there is also a large bay window and 2 large velux.
I picked up some samples.
The pic below is to give an idea of bay window and velux, walls have now been painted white so I will get a better pic later, and the wood around the bay window will be light (painted white possibly)
In this pic, on the left is Van Gogh Honey Oak. (floor on the right is another range, but obviously not 3 same planks!) Pic was taken at night, dark outside, with 2 overhead lights on. I also got samples of Distressed Oak and Country Oak and found them too grey. I threw a white sheet over the top of the base units to give the look of a white worktop!
I wonder if its a bit dark, but then as its night time, with 1 overhead light only on the island (there will be 2 but only 1 bulb in at the moment)
(the insides of my units are a light oak)

Comments (1)You could do a black paint trim over the wooden bits. It would go with the work tops. But not so much with the creamy doors; Or get all of the kitchen units spray painted white? I think if you try to match the floor with the wood of the units in the kitchen you may leave yourself open to a mismatch or even just an overload of wood. I didn't feel there was enough black there as the island top kind of took me by surprise on first seeing it. But could you remove that granite altogether and see how it looks then? Comments (3)I know exactly how you feel. I had a similar situation. The prospect of lifting the board and potentially raising the level made me wait. The wood darkened, and now I'm never fully sure where that board is. In fact, I forgot all about it till I saw this post. Wait a while. If it still bothers you in six months or a year maybe then consider lifting it. But I guarantee you won't, lol!...See Moretamp75

My son has a lovely finish in his shower room but I can’t remember what he had. Easy to clean too.

4 years agoWhat a wonderful space. Have you tried the Karndean augmented app? If you haven't it may be worth having a look at this https://www.karndean.com/en-gb/floors/guides-and-resources/digital-tools/karndean-designflooring-app
This helps you visualise the floor in your room, although I would still recommend a physical sample before ordering.
I like the Honey Oak and Distressed Oak you have mentioned, but if you are undecided, you may want to have a look
at Greige Oak above or
Light Distressed Oak as they could work well.- PRO

4 years agoI think your choice of flooring will be a great match to the grey-white kitchen. We went for an even darker floor in a simliar coloured kitchen and have not regretted it. The wood adds a touch of warmth to a space dominated by lots of cool colours.

4 years agoI would stick to the wood honestly (love the one under the hoven!) and go for black hardware and white(ish) furniture. bronze could also be a very good choice depending on style

On seeing the planks on their own I much prefer the misty grey, the 2nd one.
I do prefer these to the original pics in the first post.

4 years agoWe all have different taste Ellie, and I prefer the warmer darker woods in your first pics, but that’s just my taste. The new samples above are gorgeous too and I do like the second one which is a bit warmer. Go with your heart. They are all lovely and I think the newer samples are perhaps more modern? Kitchen looks lovely, so much like my sisters! As you know she went for dark chestnut porcelain planks. Each to their own!
