I just got brand new acacia engineered floors installed and for the most part, I love them. However, one plank really stands out and always catches my eye and bugs me a lot. The flooring contractor offered to replace it, but said there is a very small chance the new plank could be a little higher (lifted edge) than the others. Should I replace it and risk the small chance or live with it? Does it bother you or is it just me over analyzing?
i am unsure which plank it is, but I also know that feeling of when something catches your eye, it can grate. Personally I would leave it as the wood will mellow in tone over the next year and should acquire more depth (as its natural wood). beautiful floor.
I know exactly how you feel. I had a similar situation. The prospect of lifting the board and potentially raising the level made me wait. The wood darkened, and now I'm never fully sure where that board is. In fact, I forgot all about it till I saw this post. Wait a while. If it still bothers you in six months or a year maybe then consider lifting it. But I guarantee you won't, lol!
Thank you both so much for your reply. Its the board with the big black streak. To me it looks like permanent marker and stands out to me every time I walk by. I just scheduled to have it changed out, now I'm nervous. But I've waited over a month and still can't get used to it. I don't think the installer will let me wait 6 months.
