We like the idea of the shutters, however we agree this mayn't be practical due to daily access due to being over the basement? Like your idea to have plants and artworks sitting on the ledges and will be doing this. There is also wiring for the feature light so this is also a good idea and we like the example you have presented.

Once we have implemented the changes we will upload a picture for you to see.

I agree with calico that voiles wouldn’t suit your modern, sleek apartment. On holiday we stayed in an apartment that has blinds fitted snuggly into each window of a set of bifold doors. You can pull them up out of the way if you wish, or close them with the slats open so you have a little privacy, or close them completely, say at night. I thought they were marvellous. You would have to get a blind company in to quote as they are probably bespoke, or try Blinds2go online. I think they’re called Integrated Blinds. Something like this

I personally think plain voiles are perfect in a contemporary setting with large floor to ceiling windows which are difficult to access. The style of track or pole and curtain heading is the key. A ceiling fixed shaped track such as the Metroflat from Silent Gliss in conjunction with a Wave heading on the curtains would do the job perfectly and look very smart.

What about voile blinds? I have voile pleated blinds (perfect fit) on the french doors in my lounge to give privacy from overlooking house behind me. I think roller blinds may be more in keeping with the apartment.

The curved central window would be a problem for any blind or shutter without losing the curve which would be a shame.

I think some sheer curtains on a wave header would look beautiful in that contemporary setting

Thanks to everyone for all of your helpful comments. We have been considering the different options and do feel that the plain voiles would work the best. There is a no problem with how they are hung as the top will be hidden behind the ceiling raft that has concealed strip lighting. We are considering a pale grey colour? Thanks At No 19

Perfect! I'm not sure where you are based but you will find Creation Baumann have a great selectoin of sheer voiles.

I am based in the centre of Manchester. Will look into your suggestion although l do have a friend in Scotland who supplies and fits curtains. I did look at the Metroflat fittings and they seem perfect. Thanks once again.

Because the track can be concealed within the lighting pelmet you can probably get away with Silent Gliss 3840 (add a W after it if you go for a Wave heading) it is a much less expensive option, a lot will depend on the shape of the curve, but your friend will be able to advise when he comes to template the track. Hope all goes well.

The area where the central voile will hang does not have a curved, so no problem.

Another option is smart window privacy film which you can turn on and off with a switch.
