Dressing 2 Sash Windows

We have two lovely sash Windows with about a 1.5 ft space between them. Our ceilings are about 10ft high and Being an old house we have the radiator under the Windows.

What is the best window treatment here? I had my heart set on plain roller blinds with a pair of lovely and full floor length curtains on each window.

Is this going to be a problem with the radiator? And is a pair per window too much? I had also thought about one on each side and one non-functioning curtain in the middle...

Hi love your windows I think blinds would look nice and just one pair of curtains across both windows I wouldn't draw the curtains X

Hi. I don't think a curtain/s in the middle will work as you'll have the radiator either side plus a potential issue with the poles?

Why not try Romans (if they fit, as i can't see the inside of the window frame!) and a single curtain either side? Rather than use tiebacks so they're draped across the window just use a holdback similar to the pic so they're held back instead. This one obviously has a pelmet but you could add poles which just overhang the top of the window slightly

Have you thought of combining treatments? We do a lot of Hunter Douglas shades for privacy and light control coupled with stationary panels to give softness and luxury to the treatment. Combining textures such as woven woods provides interest both inside and out. Stationary panels allow you to have the soft treatments you want without worrying about the needed room for stack-back when the drapery is open.

There are a number of other companies including bottomupblinds.co.uk. I think the sheer voiles look good but I can't find a supplier! Hopefully this will give the post a bump and a pro may know where to source if you're interested in voiles

Hey Oldholly, Are you changing the glass to clear or keeping them frosted? If you are keeping them frosted, would you consider aluminium venetians? You can add a bit of colour if desired but with them, you can also allow light in while covering up the frosted glass. If you are changing the glass, you could consider roller blinds or roman blinds both adding a touch of class if the right fabrics are selected. I would try to move the radiator as full length curtains when closed will trap the heat on the window side rather than in the room.
However I think only full length curtains will do justice to these lovely windows

It could look lovely with both blinds and curtains. If you have functioning blinds to pull down at night, the curtains can be non-functioning decorative ones. This option gives you the freedom to use thinner, prettier curtains too, they also dont need to be drawn at night in front of the radiator. Pics below help explain how they could look.

Treat as one window. If you like traditional a pair of swags with a jabot in the middle would help to unify the two windows. Roller blinds would filter the light.
