What about a rug, all those bare floorboards are a bit like a passageway down to the door. If you get a rug with diagonal lines it will give the illusion of a wider space plus it will cosy the scheme up a bit and make the room more inviting to come in and stay a while. Boards or lines in flooring running the length of a narrow room always make it look more so.
I'd get one pole that goes wall to wall, fixed to walk with recess brackets and won't block the light from your windows but can be pulled at night to make the room more cosy. Rug would make it cost too. Also maybe a larger mirror or picture over your fireplace?
Yeah was thinking a larger mirror ....we have nothing done with the room yet. Afraid to ...in case I get it wrong. Was thinking of pulling the sofa out from the wall a little at an angle. Maybe wingback chair near fireplace...want to keep it kinda open and minimal....maybe console table to the left of the mantal ...or move the tele all together ..I dunno. The room isn't that narrow... Its about 12 feet wide at either side of the mantal
