Need help picking backsplash tiles and wall paint colours
Comments (9)Thank you for your suggestions and ideas! I love some of the more daring/colourful ideas, but I don't think I'm, personally, bold enough to go with such a contemporary look. I'm going to stick to a traditional/modern style and use large (4" x 8") white subway tiles and dark grey grout. I'm thinking of using a dark grey paint around the kitchen walls and then a lighter shade around the rest of the room, with maybe the dark grey on the wall behind the TV too. Will be a few more weeks before that's all done, but I'll post a picture when I eventually get there. Thanks again!...See MoreChanging kitchen

Comments (9)Hi Mary, I'd say remove the wall tiles and replace them with a glass splashback the whole way round or have a matching granite upstand put in and simply paint the walls. Splashbacks are my favourite as they tend to add some light to the kitchen thanks to its reflective surface. Also another idea would be to play around with lighting, which is getting more and more popular in kitchens now, such as LEDs under your wall cabinets, on top of your cabinets or along the plinth. The added lighting just adds a little something special to the kitchen and more importantly it doesn't have to cost the earth either! Another lighting option could be to go with the industrial lighting craze right now and get something put right above the island which would really add character to the kitchen too! Comments (32)Lovely, much better than the 3D plan. V glad you kept your patterned floor tiles, I really like them. It's all come together very attractively. The only thing I'd change and this is just because I'm a colour freak is the pendants - I'd probably have made those red and orange or something. But congrats really, it looks great....See MoreTownhouse Design
