Comments (22)I would go with what the architect suggested. That was my immediate thought and also means that you will get light into your living area all day since the kitchen would be at the front and the living room at the back. It will be a nicer space to live in. If you really can't face bedrooms at the front though could you do something like this? It clearly isn't to scale!! You probably sacrifice a bit of space in that smallest bedroom but gain much more liveable floor space at the front of the house. It also gives your husband the open pan area he likes. It does sacrifice a separate entrance way though. I'd also shift the bathroom wall out and steal some space from the utility room so that you have a larger bathroom....See MoreHelp for my kitchen please.
Comments (9)Hi Mary, I'd say remove the wall tiles and replace them with a glass splashback the whole way round or have a matching granite upstand put in and simply paint the walls. Splashbacks are my favourite as they tend to add some light to the kitchen thanks to its reflective surface. Also another idea would be to play around with lighting, which is getting more and more popular in kitchens now, such as LEDs under your wall cabinets, on top of your cabinets or along the plinth. The added lighting just adds a little something special to the kitchen and more importantly it doesn't have to cost the earth either! Another lighting option could be to go with the industrial lighting craze right now and get something put right above the island which would really add character to the kitchen too! Comments (2)Two points- firstly the lighter colour often sits better on the eye level cabinets with a darker colour for the base units and tall units. Secondly I love the colours you have chosen- just make sure they are the same grey as the tiles- as these colours are grey/brown they could make other greys look blue....See Morehelp - i am 6 months trying to sort this.
Comments (4)For an overall sense of a dramatic colour change I'd suggest using Crown paints room painter app. It wouldn't be accurate for exact shade like a tester pot is but it might give you the confidence to make the change! Take a good photo of your room and try it out. It can be tricky to use when there are lots of items you don't want to paint e.g. kettle, so best clear any clutter first. I've messed with your photo as an example...See MoreVintage...VJ Jazzy Jazz
