Kitchen - Cute or Mixed up?
Comments (40)Mary, it has been a while since I read the comments. I think you can take your time with growing with your new decluttered kitchen. It is truly beautiful with just the changes. Don't go spend a ton of money, save it and go on a holiday to a state park or something you have always wanted to do. If your friends that you invite over for dinner don't love ...... well just coming over and visiting,.... then oh well. As long as you are happy, but no need to break the bank..... you did great already. I love it, if you do more, please share though? And to bamamom, I so agree with you! My own, awful, claustrophobic kitchen is LESS than 8 ft x 11 ft... yep that tiny and horrible. I have taken out the nasty, dropped ceiling and have the slightly vaulted original one now, but with pipes showing where the HVAC was put in after and then the repiped ones....... I did not know they plumber would do this, much less the others were there.... gag me. And no money to do it up even decent....See MoreDIY SOS!!
Comments (11)OK then I think you might have to work asymmetrically. Instead of many cupboard doors, over your boiler, have one door placed over it with a push in push out system to open it. This will create a smooth "wall" - paint this and the wall above the brick area cream and the brick below grey.I would then change the cabinet on the other side so that you use cream with a grey counter and even grey shelves...Could this work better?More photos would certainly help? Where is your chalet?...See MoreBedroom colour scheme advice
Comments (9)Hi Louise, In a room like this I always like to keep the walls and ceilings ( including the small door and frame 1 colour...in this case a lavender. I'd start by finding colour chips that have the same colour as the carpet, and then go a few shades lighter but in the same tome. All baseboards and door to hall should be the same colour as the iron beds...off white. With the walls a colour you'll be able to see the pretty pattern of the frame. OR find a small scaled pattern of any of the shades of purple and the cream same as the bed frame) with the same fabric. Make custom bedding to match. In a small room 1 pattern works well everywhere. If you go the paint route, try to find fabric with soft gold, lavender, purple for a skirted table between the beds if there's room. You can put it on a cardboard table and base...found in some fabric or craft stores. Top it with a thin piece of glass ( Pier 1) and away you go.Don't be afraid of colour or small pattern in a small space, as you are going for the impact. Have fun! Comments (16)What I'm actually wondering though is about mixing the metals - so having the chandelier and lamps with the touch of silver - or would I be better to source antique brass lamps like I have in some other rooms in the house - I kind of wanted to feature quite a bit of glass, and generally the glass comes with chrome, but I'm not sure if it's too modern for the sideboard etc, and mores worried about the clash of metals, but something tells me it might be ok in this instance! I have chrome taps and rainfall shower head in new bathroom and kept with antique brass for the light fittings and door/press knobs. Also yes the room is small but that's not an issue - it is what it is and I'm fine with it!...See MoreLynda
