hall and stairs - Different shades of white
Comments (7)I think I made a mistake- I have painted the railing and trim of the stairs in brilliant white - high gloss while doors to dining/living room in eggshell off-white (color grand - almost white). A runner will go up the stairs... (the runner is off white - beige color). Is there a way or would you recommend to change the color of the stairs and trim and dado rail to same color as dining/living room doors and trim around them?...See MoreHelp
Comments (10)Change the flooring. It's hard to tell what to suggest since we can't see what the entry opens up to. With that gorgeousness staircase, you might have something great hiding under the carpet. Take down the curtains -- those windows don't need any kind of treatment. Last, cover your radiator with a console table. I think you should do something really modern or sleek or get something built that ties into the wood of your staircase. Here are some examples for rad covers. Options are endless. The first is just a console table. The second has a good shape. I like the brass in the third and the dark wood in the last. Then make certain you have good lighting and a statement piece of art or a huge mirror over the console....See MoreDressing hallway sideboard advice
Comments (6)Nice art but a bit too large for this spot. See how the frame is above your door frame. If it were mine, since the door appears to open into the next room, I'd consider modifying the sideboard to be used as a rad cover and lower the art so its center is 5' above the floor. It can stand on its own, and you can paint the frame the same color as the sideboard to unify them and the space. You might also add an art light that attaches to the piece for more evening interest....See MoreLoft or side return??
Comments (4)Three bedrooms will always be worth more than 2. If there is enough headroom I would take loft stairs up above the main staircase - from the cupboard position. Leave a landing and corridor to the bathroom and partition off a tiny bedroom/nursery/study. A lot depends on which way your roof is pitched. I would get a few loft companies in to tell you what is possible within a limited budget. If and when you get the money it might be possible to close the existing back door and refigure the kitchen units to allow a lobby and door opening out toilet and use the toilet door as your back door. A downstairs toilet is heaven sent when you have children!...See Morethinkdesignlive
