Living room what can be done

What should be on the mantel place below the mirror? Something else needed in the corner? Help please any ideas feedback be great

How about a string of lights along the mantel. Fairly lights would do but you want some of the diamond white light. If doing this you would need to remove everything else but add some dried colored twigs or flowers with the light so it looks nice in daylight

Just a quick note to thank you all for sharing your thought, ideas, experience and time. I especially want to thank Bluenan and decoenthusiaste for being with me through the all process for the last 6 months or so..., just wanted to post few photos of the results (https://www.houzz.com/discussions/any-ideas-for-final-touches-to-this-living-dinning-room-dsvw-vd~569586) as I feel it is not only me who created this space but it is your creations as much as mine. It may not be perfect or according to the the "Rules", but it is Me and my family. Each and every piece was chosen by me in different parts of the world and each one of them has a unique story behind. I am very pleased with my space. I love it! I am very blessed. .... and so I am off to my new project now... Back to school.... that's really going to be hard ;) Thank you all, once again.

Looking at the oak doors and baseboards, I'd say go for a warm white (no cream, but a bit tan or olive -ish). Neutrals will last longer too, regardless of the funiture and decoration you will use. If the dog is yours, I'd use my budget for a faux wood ceramic floor and worry less about furniture, replace the old stuff once you're lived in the house (hint: slip cover). And walls can be painted afterwards, so focus on the floor (and window treatments) instead of the furniture and start out with offwhite walls.

I think it is a matter of who likes apples and who likes oranges. I am in Margo's corner on this one....but it is JM humble O. The purple tones of the grass mat wall paper nice, more modern, the gray tones, a little more traditional. So either will achieve a nice look, it's a matter of taste.
