Hi everyone who can help. This is my third time putting up this message but I dont get any replies :(
Disaster with wallpaper #whatwasithinking. Want to change it but am finding it really difficult. I want to enhance the mirror and for that to be the feature in the room. any suggestions as to what wallpaper would be best? Soft light grey maybe? The couch is black with white/black cushions and the curtains are a purple. I need to change out layout of room also but will concentrate on wallpaper first.

Comments (19)That wall paper doesn't go at all.. and you don't need wallpapers.. how about a cream shade on the fireplace part of wall with oxblood coloured (from your curtain flowers) horizontal band below mantel, while the rest of the walls be lilac? Ever considered stoenwork similar to your fireplace on that wall? Also lower the hung photographs.. should be at least four inches below the windows' top edge.. Your sofas are quite dark. they seem aubergine.. is there any way you can at least place one of the sofas across from a window so that light falls on it? right now it is in the shadows backed against the windows, therefore more dark (does it seem so when you're in the room too?) The mirror (though nice) is too solid and thick for the mantel. can it go on a clearer stretch of some wall? fourth wall? What is the fourth wall like? idk how the fourth wall is like but how about angling large sofa at 90 degrees to the window with the single seater also angled in the corner where the lamp is.. and place the side table with lamp infront of the window (i-e at the corner of the 'L' made by t he sofas).. If possible get lighter lamp shades (cream).. Love the cushions.. place two of these cushions on the single seater to relieve the large sofa.. Please turn the rug lengthwise along the length of the sofa.. get a glass/metal table (if tots allow) or cream ottomon as center table.. The TV is too large for the rack, no? The vase is being wasted under the tv.. Florals and stripes can be mixed depending on print.. but if you bring anymore florals in this room, it would be best to match the flower shape to those in the curtains. Comments (21)Seeing it as an almost whole, I do think now that I like the soft, patterned curtain for the room. It could become overly severe, and that would be enough to stop that happening. Second thought, you don't need a side table for the sectional, but you do need something there to hold a lamp -- silver or glass would probably be best. The stand could be very plain, a box shape, even, in the same finish as the wood you already have. I liked these from wayfair.com -- though I might change the shades on a couple of them. Comments (9)Thrift shops rule! You can pick up the practical stuff---tables, chairs, chests of drawers, and even upholstered items---and make them your own with chalk paint and slipcovers. Sometimes you can find attractive art. Lamps are also super cheap at such places as the Salvation Army, and you can paint those, too. Chalk paint can be used indoors, as it requires no messy sanding and has essentially no smell. I think you'll also want a rug and curtains. If I were you, I'd use the greater part of my budget on a good rug or two that I could keep forever. 9 years agoWhy don't you try changing the colour of the walls to Egyptian cotton. Also try a lighter wallpaper, similar print but with light purple/lavender, cream in it? The picture below is just to let you see the paint colour. Goes with many other prints and colours. Good luck.

8 years agoHi all, it's been a long time since I wrote on this post, hope people are still around.
I've been waiting and waiting and looking for a rug for this room and they have either been crazy expensive or just not big enough ( it's actually very hard to find a rug bigger then 160 x 230 here) and I've tried and tried to get one made to size but can't justify the price.
I've been waiting on the sale on one particular store and it was finally on today, went up and the biggest was 160 x 230, not much bigger than what I already have there so hard again to justify the price. 380 euro down to 330euro.
What do ye think? This is way room is now

8 years agoHi all whoever is still with me on this one.
So found another carpet shop, very helpful and I think the cheapest I am going to get for what I want.
So, the rug, the rug, the rug, I have my own head and everyone else's head wrecked about the rug!!
Found a nice sample, just back to size. I've gone through all the posts again and it's either to to be two foot out from the perimeter of the room or else to go just under the legs of the couch and the armchairs.
Correct??
Just have few queries? If we wanted to change the furniture or layout of the furniture would we be stuck then with a rug that doesn't suit?
