Which rug, no rug, bigger rug?
Trying to get a rug for an oddly shaped family room. I think this furniture placement is what I want to stick with- working around wall length built ins and fireplace, floor to ceiling windows with an exit door, plus 4 additional doorways (front entrance, living room, basement, kitchen). There are two areas in this room, one brown couch facing TV, other brown couch and blue chair facing around fire place. My question: Do I get a rug like in the pics that just fits the one sitting area? Or do I need a large room size rug to cover both areas? And do you like one rug or the other? Thanks for any advice!!! Been waiting 2 years to do this, want to do it once...

This will elevate the mood of the room since you will need an upper emphasis once your room is anchored with the carpet. It is easier to decorate around a rug, the one you love for sure, than around a focal piece, such as art. After you choose from any of the beautiful carpets above that work with your interior, take a photo of the room with the carpet installed in it. Have fun looking for the artwork that best sings with your carpet. and that grabs you. After you have the choice of art up on the wall, look for small accessories of colour of shape, size and texture that work with the whole composition last. Comments (9)That's a working fireplace isn't it? I agree that the fire surround is probably not in keeping with your tastes and would probably look perfectly at home in a rustic country cottage, but just not for you. There are several options open to you, and if your a bit handy with the DIY, none of them need to cost much, it's just a little hard work. Remove the fire surround and see what dimensions you have with the actual fireplace, it might be that you can also remove the iron plate around it, thus leaving you with a much smaller actual fire. However, be aware that it will affect, the plaster, the skirting and the hearth, as everything is currently built to home the fire surround. You could go............at that point for making good the walls and keep it simple by having a floating shelf only, or another fire surround that's simpler. Loads on Ebay! Think about to use a natural product for your home, especially you have a narrow livingroom. With a (real) natural green colour rug, you have a real part of the nature in your home. It will always gives you a feeling of freshness. From psychologic view, this should be recomended.
You can also search in your area for a carpet shop who has " real persian green Gabbehs, made in persia, by persian nomads, with 100% persian wool and 100% natural colours".
They also will not be very expensive.
