To be honest I would be very careful with grey or anything with grey tones. We moved house last July and painted our lounge in FB elephants breath. In the north facing room it was very grey and sucked the life out of the room. We had to change it - very depressing. We have now used a paint from Little Greene - the paint quality is so much better than FB. Our decorator agrees. They might have a nice grey - but please be very sure of how it will look in your room!

It looks very good James. Even though as you say it was a clients design build, it works fine. Once the Island has stools it will fill it out better. Has that naked look at the moment. The position of the wine rack might cause issues but overall it looks like a really clean and fresh kitchen. Plenty of natural light and the colours compliment each other. The extractor is a nice feature too. Everyone has different opinions as I see on here but if the client is happy with it then job done. Looks really well fitted too.....well done :)

It looks very pretty. I would look at pics of painted floors versus whitewashed and see which you prefer then people can hopefully help with methods. I've used chalk paint but not on a floor. Annie Sloan sell floor lacquer so you don't need to use the wax which is very time consuming to apply, the lacquer can be rollered on. The only thing I would say is that it does not adhere to I think varnish made in the 80's and I find the White paint coverage is poor although not an issue if white washing. I painted that one area and then just lost steam....only looking at it again now. I do like the idea of dark & light but kittihawke you are right about being careful with it. The only thing I've noticed if you break the grey with strong bright white it looks fantastic so I might hand a number of white frames in the hall, stairs & landing.
