Opinions on tiny office!

I work for a NFP who have a small office (2mx3m). Currently its crowded and crazy. We can only fit one person in there. I was wondering if you could give me some tips on how to make it feel nicer? We have one of the best views in the city (photo attached). We would like to fit two people in there to work side by side. See photos attached. I'm after furniture/storage/layout advice.

It doesn't feel like a nice place to work as it's so overcrowded.

We currently don't pay rent and moving our office to a bigger space isnt an option.

What a view! Maybe using a desking system would help. You can pick the pieces and you can add lots of storage. They are made for commercial and residential offices. Good luck!

How do you get any work done with that view? Here's a solution and the bookshelf above it could be installed above the window for volumes you don't have to access as regularly. The wall opposite the windows would have floor to ceiling shelves to match this one. Paint the end wall where the shelves are now in a great color both of you agree makes you feel as good as the view does.

I would go with what the architect suggested. That was my immediate thought and also means that you will get light into your living area all day since the kitchen would be at the front and the living room at the back. It will be a nicer space to live in. If you really can't face bedrooms at the front though could you do something like this? It clearly isn't to scale!! You probably sacrifice a bit of space in that smallest bedroom but gain much more liveable floor space at the front of the house. It also gives your husband the open pan area he likes. It does sacrifice a separate entrance way though. I'd also shift the bathroom wall out and steal some space from the utility room so that you have a larger bathroom.

I think your colors are restful so I would work with those and not pop a color. Maybe some interesting artwork that had some color in it, but I think you should go for a more elegant calm look. By the way, I like the chandelier you have with the fireplace. I think I would paint the lower part of your wall the same blue as is in the top part. Then I would add some black accents in glass and lamps. Curtains that have a sheen or gold thread would be nice.

Hello Houzz Ireland, We are currently renovating a 1960's build - so as you know, there is a lot of decisions to be made!! So it would be nice to get some gems of advice from the experts to help us through this daunting task. Areas where we would really like some inspiration for - small bathroom downstairs. I would really like to do something fun with this room and although small, I think it could work really well with some funky wallpaper or possibly tiles?! I'm just not sure what to do with it. Also - pulling a whole house together?! Where do we start? We have the bigger pieces of furniture but how do I know what nest of tables goes best with a suite? Or what accessories will bring a room together? I'm due a second baby in 2 weeks time so any help at this stage would be so amazing - to guide me on the right interior design path for our new house. I don’t think your plan for a playroom is an economical plan. Firstly it’s an additional small room- this house has enough rooms for any family- what you need is larger rooms. You have stated you want a kitchen with an island- the space you currently have won’t accommodate an island but if you did extend the kitchen this will likely add far more to the resale value. The rooms at the back of this house have two doors to the patio- you intend putting the playroom just here meaning you loose the best route to your garden most likely resolved by replacing the Dining room window with French doors….. and moving the radiator, replacing the floor and building a new patio! The living room at the back of the house could be a playroom for the next few years- perhaps you should make an aperture to the dining room to keep an eye on the kids.

Lovely view! Perfect suggestion by decoenthusiaste. I would also suggest to declutter the office by removing any items that are seldom used if any. Perhaps they can be relocated to your office storage room and contained in boxes so the redesigned shared office is more visually appealing. It will also provide more space for the second person in case they need it.
